My favorite kit, hands down, Tamiya's 88. I have built it three times and still have two on the shelf. Great kit, no matter what your skill level. Comes with enough extra stuff to make a decent dio, if that is what you are in to. Old, yeah, but holds up.

I have a few favorites because I only buy what I like!

But, out of all the new stuff I got this year - and thinking about what I'd still like if I got one as a present:

Italeri's DUKW Amphibious Cargo Truck at around $34 bucks.

Polar Lights USS Enterprise Starship at around $11 bucks and worth much more! Get two!

Tamiya's new HMMWV - either the brand new M1046 Supplemental Armored TOW HMMWV or the M1025 Armament Carrier HMMWV both around $35 bucks.

Fine Molds TIE Fighter at around $34 bucks - and worth it too!

Sorry, forgot to mention the 88 can be had for 20- 25 bucks. I have the Tamiya GMC on the shelf and as I said in another post, I am going to have to bust it out. I really haven't looked the GMC over, but if it is a fave kit of yours, I will give it a whirl...

The Italeri DUKW and the Tamiya Deuce and a Half are boith great suggestions -- they'd be in my top 10 list. I have a DUKW that's almost done and want to get more! I have two GMC variants based on the Tamiya kit and a couple more on deck to be built.

But my real favorites (tie!) are the Tamiya M4A3 and the Italeri Sherman variants (M4A1, M4A3, M36B1, Kangaroo, etc.) -- I've used their hulls for more conversions than I can count without taking off my shoes.

Good kits out of the box -- better with tweaking, but isn't that what modeling is all about? I'm not a model builder ... I'm a modeler.

Tamiya King TIger, any of the varients. Porsche turret, or the production turret. Doesn't matter to me!

It's gotta be Tamiya's FAMO. Excellent everything! I bought it here in the Philippines at $34. I think its around $ 50 in the western hemisphere. Probably because of shipping costs.

I love M-60 tanks. Lots of manufactures out there, many varieties and you can usually find them fairly cheaply, especially on ebay

Any modern tank, 1980's and newer. 30 - 40 dollar range. Yes, I build armor from all era's but I like the modern stuff the best..

Did Fritz get a good or what! 34 to me is a steal for that kit. WHat a deal. Of course on ebay its probably 10 bucks or something.

#:-) I just bought the M-26 from Tamiya and love it! It cost $32.00 at a show. I also like any of the new stuff coming out from Dragon (as long as it's not old re-issue stuff) Dragon's stuff sells for about 23-25 dollars. Unless of course you get the Karl or Leopold!!!!!

for me its got to be the tamiya cromwell.
its simply the best kit ive ever built,
accuracy, fit, detail is all perfect, or as near as your gonna get.

theres loads of possibility for some really interesting conversions, and loads of possibility for diferent versions.
plus its a unique and cool looking little tank, i love it!!!!!!!!!!1
cheers

my favorite model by far; Accurate armour's Oshkosh M1070 HET with M1000 trailer. It's a little expensive though #:-)

My other favorite vehicle is the Humvee by Tamiya, simply beautyfull !!

My Favourite kits have to be Academy’s M113 (M113, M163, M981, Zelda, Command etc….) and Hummv (TOW, Ambulance etc..) variant ranges. Nice kits to put together, enough detail OOB and they all have full interiors, they are cheap ±$15 - $32, challenging enough builds also they can be spruced up no end.

My all time favourite is ERTL’s Millennium Falcon, but it is a Bear (More likely a Pig) to build and needs a LOT of work to make it look half decent, with my skills (or lack thereof) it will take ages, But it sure is going to be fun!

Actually, my fav is not a tank but rather an AC. The AV8-B Harrier II. For ground units, I love the SCUD, T72, M1A1 and the M2A2 ODS.

Hi. My favorite model is the one I just built and it turned out half way decent. Seriously, I don't think you can go wrong with anything from Tamiya, new or old, depending on what you're looking for. Academy, Dragon (if you double check the instructions with others before beginning), and Trumpeter, are also good. You'll just have to chose your preferences and see what sort of 'strikes you' when you go to the hobby shop and look at the different kits out there. Usually when I buy a model it's the box art and the general style of the vehicle that just jumps out and says, "I'm the one you want." Unless, of course, there's something specific I have in mind from reading the various write-ups on this and other sites on the Net. Here lately this has been the best way I've found to select soemthing I want to do.

Take care and good luck, sgirty

GIven the number I've built, I'd suggest any of the Academy M113 variants. They run about $30 US and have full interiors, most have multiple options and many cool accessories. Some have optional indy or rubber band tracks. The only drawback is the main hull is based on the old Tamiya kit and has motorization hles in the bottom.

Tamiya's Flak 36/37 88 mm. gun.

What a great model. Agree with Keenan.

Included a 750 cc. Zundap M.C. - 8 figures - extra shells, casings, ammo boxes, plastic cable for the reels.

Anyone remember Sheperd Paine's - 88 in a church / diorama....

Andy
