If you are tryig to encourage users to contribute who normally don't, then a thread like this is most probably counter productive.
The post count theme pops up every so often usually with someone complaining about the amount of posts another member has made, although why that would worry anyone is somewhat beyound me.
There are still a lot of regular users and posters, what's different now than from when the site started is that when the latest posts page was a single generic page you tended to get a lot more replies to a thread than after the genres had been split up. Many of these folks are still posting but just in their area of main interest.
I'm all for the silent majority joining in but I remember when I joined I had visited the site for 3 or 4 months before I made the decision and plucked up the courage to make a post.
There will alwasy be those who ask more questions, post more threads and those who simply drop in gathering infomration and ideas or who don't have the time or inclination to join in.
If you want to encourage users to participate then discussion threads that are modelling related are more likely to draw them in and also much more interesting too.
My thoughts anyway.
