Neat concept on the Shtora laser jammers, but they are InfraRed, not visible red lights. They are not bright red when turned on, but look no different than when they are off.

Actually I have seen your reference, the eye was done it was so bright, probably due to the camera,

It is either a retouched picture or the way the light is reflecting off the red lenses. They don't visibly light up though.

Actually they do light up, their ment to blind and jam the incoming missle operator. Here is a youtube video of a T-90 in action with the lights powered up.

Something is off then, either references or the system has undisclosed capabilities. So it is either not IR or it is both visible spectrum and IR. IR is invisible to both the human eye and cameras unless they are IR cameras.

True IR can not be seen by the human eye, either way the two light are not IR. It is pssible that they can emit both spectrum of light, but then agian the russian are not going to release full campabilities to the general public. Nothing more than simple dazzlers, much light our non-lethal laser that law enforcement use. But then again who really uses IR guide weapons against tank, most everyhting optical, laser, or gps guide.

Whew! That's one mean lookin' T-90!

It's interesting to see how you approached the construction of the IR Shtora lights. I wish I had taken more photos, as it would have been interesting to compare different approaches to the same issue. I wish my build looked as clean and neat as yours! Oh, and great job getting those 'pupils' to really pop out!

On a side note, does anyone know what happens to the covers of the IR lights when they are operational? Are they just stored in a box or something?

Anyway I don't know if those actually are propaganda videos where the original lights have been substituted with some others which are fake but brighter. That could have been a clever expedient to show the tank more aggressive and threatening...

Even if they don't actually light up on the real thing it sure looks neat on the model. I saw Kyle Nelson's in photos and thought it looked awesome.

Regarding the IR-visibility:
Human eye can not see them, but CCD-sensors in cameras can see them.
But my cam shows the "light" of my TV-remote-controller in purple / lilac.
I used all "lighting-modes" (sunlight, cloud-covered, bulb-lamp and all others), but all showed it in the same color.

Possibly the "seen color" of the IR-light seems to be dependent on the type of sensor.

But the reddish-color of your jammers look great!!! Devilish!

I also think, that the jammers make some heat and glow reddish. Is that possible?

great job, I like the idea of infra-red lghts lighting up,
although I have never seen it happen in real life.

Infra-red equipment gets very hot,thats why we never used
it on our Chieftains in the 80´s. It doesn´t however glow,
unless you look at it through a Thermal Imaging System, and
using that even the underwear on cammoed grunts behind light
up!

After watching the videos, the light seems to be larger than the houseing. but here is my question, why would you want the tank to light up as it would stand out as a target at night, great build though. The only way to answer this is to find a Russian tank driver and ask

I would like to thank all who have commented, the Shtora Before doing this, I also consulted a number of information only found on the internet, and now also understand that maybe it will glow red when there is a what was that swept through, such as cameras, cameras, eye but never seen, so I do have greatly reduced the light intensity of LEDs, but when shooting up, it is light strong yellow light fell slightly,
