I am showing off a few pics of an Abrams model I am building, it's not the plastic one I have been working on forever, but it has taken a lot of new skills to be able to do it. I will contiue to update the progress as it continues. Let me know what you think.

Keep up the good work in the mean time....

Hi Rob,
Well..all right! A fellow AutoCAD user
We're still on 2000 here (but we're looking to do a little bit of upgrading soon).
I've always wanted to try something like this on AutoCAD. I'm glad to see someone else finally had the nerve to do it.
It looks like you're modeling the pieces from a model kit. If you'd like, send me the info and I can help you generate a few pieces on this Abrams.
Hey... If we find out who all here uses AutoCAD, we could bring a whole new dimension to the idea of a group build!
Keep those pictures coming!

That is really impressive. I am trying to do the "learn it yourself" deal with Auto Cad at the foundry and most of the pattern shops that build tooling for us are working with Pro E. Any of you guys need side jobs?
I wonder how long it will be before we don't actually build models anymore and we just render them like Hollywood does now?
I think it was cool that you posted this in the RRB. Whole different aspect to the hobby. And, like I previously mentioned, mightily impressive. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I've also used Unigraphics......

My first CAD tool was UG I (2-D), went to UG II (3-D Wireframe) and then to Pro/E. (3-D Solids). I prefer Pro/E, but then again, never did solids on UG other than Beta testing Version 8 out in sunny Southern California during the summertime. (The Mrs. never let me go out there again alone. )

UG was Awsome for the 3D stiff I did. There was almost nothing we couldn't do.........EDS (owners of UG) said we "Pushed the envelope" of the software......on a daily basis.....hehe

That's really cool I like it a lot.
Question - can you control the color of the hull sides? On the last picture the inside of the left hull and the outside of the right hull are the same color. This makes it 'go flat' a bit. If you could darken the inside one a smidge it would add depth.

Yea I know I'm getting picky with all the work you've done. Not trying to I do recognize how much work you've done to date so here's one for you

This would be a scratch builder answer to heaven. I have no idea how the cad thing works but I love the 3 D effect . Thanks for sharing it with us

Start to look real good. Bro. submit that to your prof, and ask him to waive your Cad exams.

Are you doing this as an assembly so you can give us a 3-D exploded assembly drawing down the road?
