Hi Gang,

forgive an AA newbie a dumb question abot the 40 mm Bofors gun.
With all the upcoming releases from Bronco and AFV Club (British, Canadian etc.) I wonder if the differences between the model are that engraving?
Could someone shed a light on this?

TIA

Hi,
I'm also doing some research on the bofors and so far these are my findings.

Based on the PMMS review:
http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/bronco/cb35028.html
Bronco Canadian Bofors - it has the mark 2 carriage which has the round side stabilizing arms.
-has holes on the central part of the carriage
-rounder, (smaller?), fatter wheels
-different mounting layout for the stakes (driven into the ground to keep the gun more stable)
-different gun travel lock and towing assembly
-stiffkey gun sight (1943 onwards) the complicated looking site on top of the gun, also has the simpler sight

Based on Armorama preview pics:
http://armorama.com/news/11748
Bronco British Bofors - it has the mark 1 carriage which has the box shaped side stabilizing arms
-narrower wheels
-simpler sights (one big one small round bits)

Based on preview pic and preview box art:
http://militarymodels.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/AFV-Club-Bofors.jpg
http://militarymodels.co.nz/2012/05/26/coming-soon-from-afv-club-bofors-anti-aircraft-gun-british-version/
AFV Club British Bofors - similar to Bronco British Bofors with mark 1 carriage
-has the side stabilizing arm lock to secure them when in travelling mode
-pancake and post sight (big round sight and small post instead of the small round sight)
-diffrent detail on the rear of the gun platform
-might also have the stiffkey sight

Based on this build review:
http://www.missing-lynx.com/reviews/usa/italeri6458reviewab_1.html
http://www.bnamodelworld.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=505_510_220_225&products_id=20664
Italeri Bofors - mark 1 carraige
-US type wheel
-slightly different gun travel lock
-no shields ?
-no holes in the gun barrle sleeve (some real guns are like this)
-simpler detail on gun platform
-simple sights (one big round, one small round)

There's a lot to see and takes time to spot, good luck!
