Christopher----Glad you are in one piece. Cars can be replaced but people can't. Hope you can get everything squared away OK.
Gary----That finish on your -85 is badass. Brilliant fade job and shading.
Best wishes, Ian
It is a fact that under equal conditions, large-scale battles and whole wars are won by troops which have a strong will for victory, clear goals before them, high moral standards, and devotion to the banner under which they go into battle.

Mike, er, what the hell?

Just going to pretend I didn't read any of that!
Ian, cars can't be replaced when you're known for them.

Hi All,
here´s a quick update on the Frankenstein:
scratch water splash stopper

Turret parts added including scratched gun shield

I think I´m going to leave this mantlet off and go for a scratch built mantlet cover instead

@Christopher (Tiger 213): glad to here your o.k. don´t worry about the car, depending on which scrapyard it ends up at

it could turn into a "crab tank"
@Christopher Ager: the Rover is certainly a good bit "louder"

than the Saladin. And the Saladin is very seasonal too,
I love the X-Mas tree on the flag

.

now all you need is some tinsel lost from a passing aircraft

I have not had any luck on period accurate Somali and Ethiopian uniforms. I'll play that one by ear. I figure I'll mix regular Army as the tank crew and militia as the infantry. Perhaps a foreshadowing of Somalia.
I think the militia will show a darker side of civil conflicts. This is what I'm thinking about. The tank sits by as a group of militia stand over a pair of captured Ethiopian troops (or civilian sympathizers/collaborators).
It'd be nice to have some other civilians standing around with troops holding them back. That's making it bigger than I had planned.

Hi Sal,
I have only had a small drop of the high octane

, just enough to keep the flame alight
Well here´s some more and it´s time to get the primer coat on:

and the .50 cal. It´s from Academys MG set, plus some tweeking from me

I opened the cooling holes

added the rest of the barrel down to the chamber

and put the two together, nobody will ever see it but I like anyhow

@Gary: You may have mentioned it and I missed it, but what do you use for the wood color on the tool handles?
Cheers Paul

Hey Paul,
Great job on the 50cal. Thats some steady hands right there!
I always paint my wood bits in Vallejo Panzer Aces Old Wood. I just vary the look, color tones, and grain when i finish them with oils. When the oils dry i matt coat with vallejo then i can change tones even more with filter type oil mixes if i want, make sense? Hope that helps.

Hi Gary, thanks mate but I was hoping you had some sort of Humbrol mix or similar. I guess I´ll have buy some Vallejo paints then eh?

@ Paul looking fantastic sir, love the work on the .50 cal, if you have the Tamiya wooden deck tan you can you that as a base & then do the oils the same as Gary does it.
@ Sal looking very nice sir, can't wait to see more!!
Cheers Mike
