Hello everyone.

For my new project My choice fell on truck at the U.S. military service , 2.5 Ton standard cargo truck.

M1078 has many variations such as: longer wheelbase M1083, rescue vehicle, with armored cab and more ...

Manufacturer - Trumpeter
Scale - 1/35
item N- 01004
The kit contains 430 parts. Cab comes as a separate unit. Five rubber tires and a small page of PE contains 23 items
There are many versions of the truck, until now I did not choose the right version but rich information and many pictures from the battlefields makes me no to be worry.

Step one:
I went through the instruction carefully, marked with marker parts which I will add after painting.
The instructions starts from building of chassis:

also added: suspension, front and rear differential, exhaust, and Rear light sockets.
Want to say that working with chassis was very hard I had filled with putty and sanding much parts.

That's all for this day
Have a nice Weekend dear friends

Hello dear friends. And thanks for your comments

I continue construction: on the chassis I added fuel tank, wheels (not yet glued) and some other parts. Work on chassis will soon reach the end.

I'd like to get a comments about the work on the chassis, If there need to correct or add something on it until it's too late....

In Next step I'll start work on the cab. Think to open the roof and add a heavy machine gun like on this picture:

Am I right? this is a heavy machine gun Browning M2, maybe someone have a picture with another gun and more modern one?
But for this addition I'll have to get Coppola (like on Hummer)with stand and gun...

To be continued

Hello Richard, for the weapon system you need the "Pro Art Models" set. The ring mount is not the same that on a humvee.

AFAIK, the gun ring fitted to the FMTV is the M66 gun ring, that is also fitted to older 2.5 and 5 ton trucks and HEMTT variants (with adapter kits) :

You're welcome This ring is the WW2-era M36, which is "similar" but not the same... :

The gun ring included in Italeri's M-923A1 "Big Foot" kit would be a better option.

I don't know about this color designation, but in fact several shades can be found. Just compare these two pics from Joe Wallace's Webshots albums

Hello Friends and thanks to all for your comments

Today I finished working on the truck cab. I was helped by pictures I got from you. I painted using acrylic paint from "Tamiya".
The cabin painted in XF-67 NATO GREEN.
For seats were two options, Green or light gray. I chose second option so painted in XF-53 NEUTRAL GREY.

Middle seat I folded, I added a platform in the middle. After painting I've Chipped easy and then made wash using brown oil paint. Because in the final result truck will be with mud, I already Dirtied cabin floor with MIG pigment light mud, at last I am satisfied with the result, and what you think???
Now there are Some pictures:

Waiting for your comments
Bye folks

Hello everyone, my project reached the final stage of assembly and preparation for painting.

I finished assembly of all model except for some parts which will be added After painting, as head and rear lights, windows, warning lights.
As well it's time to decide about a cargo...
Tires were look too much new so I just send them well and now looks appear used.

So next it's time to paint job. So now I'm waiting for comments

hello friends and thanks for your comments

Finally I reached the point of painting moment, want to tell you that this is the first time I make a NATO camouflage. Also first time I use a material called "BLUTACK" ... Truth: It's been a real nightmare to me... But after several attempts I succeeded at the end (I hope so)...

Painted with acrylic paint of TAMIYA

XF-67 NATO GREEN
XF-68 NATO BROWN
XF-69 NATO BLACK

Pictures:

So now the model painted with three layers. But still before the washes, need to add some parts painted separately, effects and weathering, add cargo and more ...
May someone have ideas about cargo ???
that's all for now

So what you say about paint work?

Thank you and have a nice weekend
Richard
