hi, would like to know how can we make a 1/35 scale parachute partly blowing in the wind when a paratrooper lands on the ground?

Good Question Sudeep,
I would start with a circular cut piece of foil and then cover it with tissue such as Kleenex using diluted glue and let dry, then form it into the shape needed, probably a little flat on the ground side.Another coat of diluted glue and then add the cords.Just a theory,I'm sure some outthere has an answer.

thanks Tom that sounds like a plan however, a foil wont make it transparent like the parachute cloth used by the airbornes no D-Day. Have seen a parachute dio picture displayed in the IPMS national convention while googling.

You may be able to use the translucent material for gift bags. I'm not sure if transparent is available, but the silver shimmery kind should work.

If you mean this one, I have no idea how he did it, or who did it, but it was a most excellent piece.

Figured it out! Form the parachute using doped tissue over a piece of foil. Once dry, remove from foil. You have a parachute. Another option would be to try and vacuform one with thin translucent or transparent plastic.

I think you've got it Matt.Maybe wipe the foil with a thin coat of dish detergent to prevent sticking, like plaster molds.

Hey Sudeep, How about going to the fabric store and looking at the wedding dress material? Find the right weight and dye it to your base color. Cut it to shape, paint your seams and shape it with white glue or starch over a foam form. Another thing to look for would be some extremely fine screen material like Tom's referring to. I know they make it for filtering but forming it would be an exercise in patient heat application.
That's where I'd start,

There's on sale a product called "Floral" which is usually adopted to make fake plastic flowers.
That's a sort of paint which allows you to create incredibly thin plastic films. You have to make a metal wire frame, you have to dip it in the liquid and wait for 15 minutes. Once it is cured, you'll have your frame covered by a thin surface. Here a tutorial about (min 0:40):

My sister who makes jewels, has several bottles of that product. I haven't tried it yet, but I think that it would be perfect to make hoods tarps and parachutes
Here you can buy it

However, perhaps there is on sale the same product with a different label
Cheers

There is a Zvezda kit of German Paratroopers that has something like that.
Heres is the link to the kit:

Hi all
Not sure where I saw it, but I have seen a parachute made from fine quality tracing paper (the draughting type) carefully set with white / PVA glue or dope. It was very well done. I believe the modeller set the shape by laying it over a polystyrene foam ball, like thos sold at art stores.
Cheers,
Garth

I am wondering if the para cord is thin metal wire which is shaping and supporting the material.

What luck, I had this same question for this dio I'm planning for the next 1/48 campaign. Although I was going to have mine already detached from the surrendering figure and hanging partly on the bridge and partly over it. Some good ideas here to work on. Good luck with your dio Sudeep, I'll look for it to share ideas.

i haven't tried it yet just a thought try using a coffee strainer.the one's you use for a percolator you should be able to shape it .i think it has the natural shape of a open chute on the ground if you lay it on its side some what.,use white glue/water to harden it
