Thought I'd post a few images of a pair of WMIKs that I've completed in the last 12 months.
The first is an early example from 16 Air Assault Brigade during Operation Bessemer in Macedonia in late 2001.
The second one depicts an R-WMIK belonging to the Rock Apes in Afghanistan in 2010.

John

Very, very nice work! I love all the small details you put in them. In the second one, is that an ipod on the passenger seat?

Fantastic builds and paint jobs on both of them. Models like these are a nightmare as so much of the interior is visible, so good planning. But what stands out for me in both .... is that they are completed with perfect bases to place them in a natural environment! Exactly how a model should be completed!!

Nice job! That kit looks great! If I didn't know better, I'd have thought there was PE and lots of resin in the build. Your photos almost makes the model look realistic.

Very nicely done, love the subtle weathering and all the little details, creates lots of interest and made me want to linger and look more closely.

Very nice W.M.I.K. I like the wink about your national sport on the second diorama.
This detail remember me a book about a british JTAC operations in Afghanistan in 2008. The narrator (the JTAC) says that him and the others soldiers play cricket when there is not any attacks on their base !
Have you read it ?

Thanks for the comments guys.
In answer to some of your questions:
Yes, it is an ipod and it is significant in relation to the paperback book that sits next to it. A miniature copy of Patrick Hennessey's 'The Junior Officers Reading Club'. If you've read the book, you'll understand why. If you haven't, then the author's tour in Afghanistan was punctuated as much by the soundtrack they listened to as the reading material referred to in the title.
The cricket bat and ball - yeah, just a little bit of fun. I like to add something to each model to personalise it and I really enjoy scratchbuilding all the little 'oddball' accessories.
Figures - I haven't found any figures that 'work' in my eyes for either model. Either the sculpting is poor or the poses aren't suitable.
I will use figures with some models but I don't enjoy figure painting or building so I prefer to work with an out of the box solution. I won't put a sub-standard figure (to my eyes) on a base with a completed model. I'd rather leave the model crew-less.
Thanks again for the comments.
Regards,
John
