Karl Hoy provides an excellent in-depth review of Trumpeter's Soviet T-64 Model 1972 main battle tank.

Congrats and thanks a lot indeed Karl

As usual you've written an incredibly exhaustive review.

The kit looks very good. Having a metal gun barrel and some PE parts is great, but me too, I would have preferred to have workable track links. I don't know if I get this release or if it would rather to wait the "1974 one" which Trumpeter has already announced.

...and of course, now I'm waiting for the blunt opinions of Russian modellers...

Thanks again

Hey guys- thanks for all your kind words, means a lot to me! I'm glad you liked the review.

I'll hopefully get started on a build log in the next few days. Just one thing to clear off the bench before I start.

Mauro- I know what your saying about the later versions. My plan is to do this early one and then, hopefully, Trumpy will release a BV with all that lovely ERA plating and I'll do that too! If you happen to find anything from Russian modellers could you post it here? I'd be interested to know their take on it.

I have now two very happy Miniarm turrets and tracks. The only thing missing is a new photoetch set to be able to make two super detailed T-64s.

Crap... I'll need to rob a few banks to rest my plasticohlism !

Bronco, Dragon, Trumpeter, Meng, AFVClub, Tristar don't stop releasing new kits.. even having 3 or 4 kits on my bench I can't keep up...

building the kit I only had some trouble mating the fenders to the sides, the 2 sides (seperate pieces) didn't quite sit flush with the glasics, had to file and do some clamping to get them to sit right, then fuelcels came loose, had to fix that, with hairdrying it helped bending them in place, also to watch are the pe parts on the front between hull and glasics, they shoud be bend down ,not up as I did

pe part for ammo for gun also very fragile

hope some extra pieces can be used to pimp my long due T72 project
