Hi to you all, I started a new project. It's an Italeri GMC CCKW 353 metal cab model which I'm converting in to dental unit truck served in medical troops. Beside the kit I'm using Aber photo-etched parts for this kit, but there will be a lot of scratch-building ( the whole rear body )...........

modellius,
Excellent concept! I can't wait to see this one develop. Lots of opportunity for unique details in a dental van. I've definitely never seen one done before.
I'll be using the same kit later this year to attempt a Studebaker LC 4x4 cab-less demonstrator in Phill's "Strange and Weird" campaign, so it'll be good to see how another modeler overcomes any problems or peculiarities with the kit before I get there.
Thanks for posting!

If anybody have a photo of the dental interior and willing to share it would be more than welcome......
In the meantime some progress:
The rear window gives a lot of trouble, and it was easier to cut a bigger part of the rear of the cab and insert the window in that way:
Starting the inside of the cab :
Upholstery made from brass plate, the imitation of the thread is made with riveter
The front mud guards are not satisfying sa I made new ends to simulate tin mud guard, it's made from brass plate:
And then Whiskey come to inspection :
I think his look says everything :-)

The new seat,I used styrene sheet, a lot of putty and chocolate paper :
Modified the doors a bit :
The rear bumper :
And the start of building of a new fuel tank, it's a lot different then the standard version, it's thinner but longer and a bit wider :
Finished with interior, preparing for paint job :
And the start on undercarriage :

A lot of work well done.
I like what you are doing with the modifications.
With the work on the doors it looks like you might have them hinged open?

I'm glad you like the project, thank you all for comments
In the meantime I made some interior, it's a slow progress, not to mention that I found out that the " box " is too short, which was by the way already glued together and prepared for primer, so I had to cut and longer the rear for 6 mm .....
It was fun to made 18 same handles for drawers, it's made of photo etched leftovers

Excellent scratch work on the interior ... and a pleasant subject change as well. Would never have thought to model an obscure vehicle like this. Didn´t even know such existed.
