Well, a couple of month ago I saw a photo of a 38 (t) with mounted infantry, crossing a punch of mud in late summer 1941. I felt inmediately the wish to build this scene. Based on Maquette´s 38 t, a Tamiya-bike with Aber PE and figure-conversions of "El Viejo Dragon", Academy and Tamiya, I began to compose the scenery. So, some months later, here are the results:
I hope You like it. More photos can be found here (though text is in german, the photos aren´t :-) ):

Awesome! I have always loved the idea of building an actual photo. Looks dead on!
I bet the hardest part was finding the figures, and re-posing them.

Exactly! It is very hard to find figures in such poses. In the end a set of seated panzergrenadiers by "El Viejo Dragon" and a figure from Tamiya´s bike-set , modified with arms from the spare box and Verlinden-heads came out handsome. The trousers of one figure had to be sculpted with miliput.
It was also especially difficult to find stowage-boxes and extra-stuff on the 38 (t). I had to entirely scratchbuild them. But in the end this is what makes our hobby so beautiful ...

Too darn cool! Congrats! If you ever compete with it or even just dispaly it with your club, make sure you include the original picture. That'll add to the "WOW!" factor.

Thanks guys for all that flowers Modelling is beautiful, same is sharing models with Armorama-fellows.
On this moment I´m preparing a translation of a step-by-step-feature about "road to nowhere" ... . So till weekend You´ll find it here in the feature section.
Ahhh, I just decided to be part of the RMG campaign, too. Ordered two books in Amazon to begin research on the matter. As I was born at the rhine, 20 km nearby Arnhem (on the german side), this is a kind of modelling back to the roots ...

I'd have to agree with the previous comments. A well done and accurate protrayal of the original photo. I also want to comment on the photo of the dio. Especially to the fact that you were able to recreate how the light was protrayed in the original. My hat off to you.

Struth!! Have lacked the impetus to go that next level of dio building to replicate an actual scene... Still at the "make everything look realistic' level, but have seen many photos of scenes that I would love to recreate... Thanks Ralf, mebbe this will start a run on modellers who want to try that different level :-)

This is amazing Ralf! When you photograph your dio in black and white it will be hard to distinguish which is real.
