Has anyone had any experience with a company called Preiser? They're set to release a D-Day American infantry set of figures that I'd like for a group build I'm working on but I can justify the price, especially if no one has anything good to say about them!

I haven't worked with any Preiser figures directly but if you're looking for D Day specific figures you could try and find Dragon #6211 US 29th Infantry Division. The poses are similar and they have the correct gear (assault vests and gas mask bags) that many D Day sets lack. Hard part is finding them in some areas. Probably cheaper than those Preiser figures though.

That looks like a pretty dynamic group of figures. I have not had any dealings with their 1/35 stuff, but I have used some of their "O gauge" (app 1/48 scale) figures for model railroads. Overall they are pretty good, way above anything else made for model railroading that I have seen. Now granted these are sets of 20-30 figures, so some figures are better than others...but they are still my "go-to" for choo-choos. Biggest drawback is the price. There are a couple of images that include one that I did here:

I am by no means a figure painter, but maybe you can get an idea of the mold quality. I would be interested to see more images of their larger scale stuff.

Ask Pat McGrath ... if I remember correctly, he used some 1/35 civilian Prieser figures in a scene a while back.

I have used two preiser sets in the past - their civilians and their adam and eve set. These are both old sets and while okay-they do lack detail. I don't have any of their military sets and while these look okay the price seems a bit high for what you get

The Preiser figures are either not detailed or roughly detailed. I have used some of their civilian women in a diorama, where they have a background position. With careful painting you can get some acceptable level, but if one is used to Dragon or MiniArt figures one could be disappointed. For a central role in a diorama they might destroy the effects of super detailed and superb painted vehicles or 'second generation' other figures.
Just Google on the Preiser website http://www.figuren.de/ to see what I mean.
In general: not bad, interesting movements and themes but not a very high quality.

Preiser's 1/35 civilians are okay, mostly because there aren't many civilians on the market, and they are in some good poses.
But the Preiser 1/35 US Paratroops don't look good, especially for the price. You're better off with resin figures. Here's the definitive review of them:

Thanks all.
Matt, nice suggestion. It does look like a very nice set, something to think about to say the least.

Hi Christopher,
I just found your question.
Here's a review of the 1/35 Preiser Advancing Grenadiers:
