Dear fellow modelers,

I read somewhere that the Allies were hesitant to mount AT guns on lighter vehicles including the Dodge Beep 3/4 ton. So far I have only seen the 37mm AT gun mounted. Was there ever a stripped down version of the 57mm mounted on this vehicle. Given that the same chassis was used to create many versions was there possibly a 57mm AT gun mounted. I know it sounds odd but I'm considering placing my own old Tamiya 6 pounder in the rear of the Beep. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Besides it will appear to be an improvement over having the 6 pounder towed by a Universal Carrier.
Just a thought and thanks,

As far as i know the 6lber AT Gun was only mounted on 3 Tonners, probably due to the recoil generated when firing them, like the Bedford QL and Austin K5 and CMP`S.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info although I have seen photos of the 37mm AT gun mounted on Jeeps, most likely the recoil was nothing like the 57 as I read it was really bad for the crew. Nothing beats a "what if?" so I'll proceed as soon as my AFV Club Beep arrives from LuckyModels.

The best,

They did do a quick testbed using a Ford 3/4 ton chassis.

But it failed in March of 1942...

Thanks for the photo, you're right, it would fail, back to the drawing board!
