I am an army vet looking to recreate scenes from my past experiences in Afghanistan, namely foot patrols through grape fields and jumping grape walls.

I'm not really thrilled with the accuracy of the tamiya line, and was wondering if anyone knew where I could order figurines in positions such as: kneeling, climbing, giving a helping hand

I also am looking for accuracy. To that end the more details included the better. I'd love to find accessories such as camelbaks, M4's with rail systems, etc. Likely need resin kits for this though.

So anyone here have a company or website they can recommend?

My concept centers around a scene with 5-6 soldiers, all in various poses nearby a grape wall. Basically they're in the middle of crossing over it, some on one side, som on the other, one crossing the top of the wall. For the background I'm going to do a pastell/pencil sketch to continue into the distance to add depth.

I recommend you go with Trumpeter. They have several figure sets in the positions you are looking for. Dragon may also produce some of the figures you are looking for. I would recommend checking www.scalehobbyist.com , www.hobbyeasy.com , and www.spruebrothers.com .

If you're looking for up-to-date figures, I'd suggest Hobby Fan, they do some great figures in multicam uniforms and are easily adjusted to creat the poses you're looking for (I assume your US; apologies if not).

May I ask, would you share some of your photos here, please? Understand if not, I do know that any would be well received and no doubt inspire others.

thank you for your service.

I'm a photojournalist in the US Army, so you got the nationality right. I'll try to post some pics soon. I attempted to upload pics to the photos sections a few days ago but after telling me it was successful, it never appeared. How do I operate the photo uploader?

Hello,

other manufacturers for modern figures are for example:

Nato in Miniatures (some good figures for a patroling scene)
MAIM (soft deatails)
Hobby Fan
Verlinden
Black Dog

Here you got a good Overview:

I followed the uploading instructions. It says it's been uploaded, but then nothing shows in my albums or as individual pics. Not sure if it's a glitch or what.

I suggest using Photobucket. It is very easy. I too have difficulty with Armorama's way. Anyway, open an account at Photobucket which takes about a minute. It's free. Then upload your photos there. Then start a thread here. You merely copy and paste the photos from Photobucket to your Armorama thread.

Photobucket will have three or four windows at the bottom of each photo. I use the bottom window to left click 'copy' and then I come here to my thread and right click 'paste.'

It took me much longer to type this than it actually takes to put the photos up.
