Ok so the Iraq dio I started, has met with a disastrous end..
Iraq Dio
I was storing it in my garage ready to complete the figures and add, but having been in this weekend it has somehow managed to end up on the floor
So I'm starting a new one, loosely based on Ambush Alley, Nasiriyah..
So I've bough this (cheap)
And I've read Vodnik's review, but I'm still gonna go with it, and would like to do something like this
I do have a few other photos from Nasiriyah, but not sure which one to pick....
Lets hope this one doesn't end up on the floor...

So I've made a (slow) start on the AAV,
after reading Vodnik's review, I decided to remove the bottom part that would fit the motorised parts..
filled, the hole and now ready to start on the road wheels...

Paul,
It's a cry'n shame about your OIF Diorama! I really liked how it was coming along, and was looking forward to seeing it completed.
I'm sure you said a few Wirty Bords when you make your discovery. I know I would have.
I can't help on your USMC AAV photo question, but maybe you could send a pm to Mike Mummey...

hi guys,

Yes, I do. This was taken in Nasariyah, near the bridges. I know the guy standing by the left rear of the AAV. He was the Company RO for Co. C, 1Bn 2nd MAR, 2nd MAR DIV. That is my old unit.

This is why Armorama is such a brilliant place ..when one modeller can post a picture and another modeller accurately knows one of the blokes in that picture it makes things flow like a river made of silk ..utter brilliance
Its things like this that make Armorama the best modelling site on the net .

I totally agree with you Phill, the input of fellow modelers is highly valued and very much appreciated. As without their input some of our models wouldn't be quite right or complete...

Howdy, that blown up Tractor was assigned to and carrying Grunts from Kilo Co, 3rd Bn 4th Marines, RCT-7. The vehicle itself is from Alpha Co, 3rd AAV Bn. It took a hit between the hatches from a blue 155mm round. The incident took place just before the Diyala river crossing SE of Baghdad in 2003. Here is a picture of the vehicle at TAA Fox in Kuwait after it was evacuated.
