Hey Paolo, nice dio. figure painting is very well done, truck too. Your cabin logs are great, just remove the splinter on the right side of the door. Question for you about the maxum. I have the same for the single axle Gaz, but what is the fan type box on the side of the bed for? Is that a water cooling system for the gun?

Very nice indeed - my favorite shot is the close-up of the mud and water, before the snow. But then, I haven't seen the detail of the snow yet.

The different colors of uniform during WW2 in the soviet army varies due to the reason of lack of fabric. Soviets used polish fabric as trophy, also american fabric. But in most cases the color was standardised.

The coats look really good now

and upgrading is!

Just received the goat to be inserted in the dio, I think it's nice and she's at ease, uh?

also, I prepared a serie of signs from wich select some to be fixed to the pole:

they need some touch-up painting, especially those of distance, wich I adjusted to resemble a crossroad near pryluky, east of kiev.

bob, I didn't understand about the splinter on the door... what do you mean?
the box on the inner side of the cargo wall is a hand operated pump to recircle the cooling water in the maxim sleevs. actually it's a deduction from some pictures I found...

here you may find all the wip step by step, and some other photos:

greetings, read you soon, p.

This is inspiring and great SBS photos. Can you explain what materials you used for snow, mud, and icicles? Great Gaz, figures, and house! (and goat).

hi greg, thank you!

snow, mud, icicles... well, looking at the link above you'll find all the pictures.. with several of mud e snow at pagg 21-22..
obviously the writing it's in my mother language, but the images are self explaining, I hope!

anyway, briefly, the melted snow is... sugar, melted in water! the slush near the snow is woodland snow in vallejo's acrilic water, and the snow is woodland, somewhere added of glass microspheres and bicarbonate..

the mud is a rough base of clay, just to have an idea of the traces on the road, and then a mixture of white glue, sand, earth, pigments and acrilic colour spread on with an old brush.

and the icicles are just clear sprue, nothing else!

I think to do another last layer of dry snow, and then water in the furrows of the road. but only after having glued the truck on the road, and that will be possible only when the pole will be painted and completed with signs and cables...
the end is in sight, but no so soon!

greetings, p.

Hey Paolo, I went back through the pic's, must have been the angle of the screen on my daughters note pad, still trying to figure it out. No splinter, was a gouge in the wood that looked like a splinter, now I have the screen angled correctly, my apologies. I also understand the cooling for the M.G. too. Never saw a close up pic. of it like that. Good to know so when I do mine it will be correct. Thanks for the pic. showing it, will make a world of difference. Just goes to show you when you think you have all the right reference's for something, you find out you don't. The goat fits in real well. Was it from Doug's originals?

yep, the goat is from doug's... it (or she?) fits like at home, without any modification!

just a little progress, cut all the signal, find out what they means (well, the 85%..) and test them on the pole:

they need yet to be cleaned and retouched with paints, this is only a test to position and choose them...

and I think that's ok like that, more or less.

ciao, p.

Fantastic work, Paolo. Everything looks just about right, thus resulting in a great pleasure for the observer.

The signs on that pole really do the trick! I like the busy look a lot. Nice contrast to the Russians on the other side of the road, who seem to just enjoy a few stress-free moments before the next mission starts.

thank you..

I repositioned the signs, turning the distance indications by 90°. it seems to me a better disposition.
now they are glued in position, when dry I'll retouch them with acrylics and oils, and then I'll go to the insulators above...

so, here we are:
I did just some changes on the goat,

and added last detail on the truck.
3432

3435

3442

ah, and obviously I added the cables on the pole!
3425

so, that's all, folks!

now I have to close some other projects that awaits the last touches...
bye bye, p.

This is a stunning dio- truly fantastic work Paolo- the mud and snow on the groundwork is a marvel- and the weathering of the GAZ is done to perfection.
