A couple of years ago Paul Walsh from Dublin model shop -my LHS gave me an old Tamiya LRDG truck kit- there were a lot of bits and pieces missing including the wheels, crew, guns, Chassis and seat but I thought I could make something of it. It sat on my shelf and I tinkered with it now and then. I got an etch set and wheels and Alan McNeilly even sent me his chassis frame so I could make a copy from Styrene rod.
Then Tamiya reissued it and I picked up one and now prompted by Alan McNeilly’s generous gift of some of resicast’s new updates I’m going to try and build both kits I have in a dio of one truck at the start of a patrol passing an abandoned shot-up one.
There's going to lots of room even with all the resicast gear in place to fill up with Value Gear Value Gear tarps, tents and crates I've been collecting
So here we go

Looking forward to charting your progress on this'un. If the figgies on this look as good as your blokes that you didn't use on the brewed up Sherman then it will be epic.

Hi Pat,
Look forward to the build. I still haven't gotten around to a base for my two efforts, so |'ll be following with interest.
Cheers

Okay a slow start to this. I'm opting for the resicast add ons over the eduard etch set I have where there is a choice though there is a bit of carving away and drilling involved which to be honest was a chore as I seem to have lost my modelling mojo today.
The resicast parts are certainly an improvement over the tamiya ones and certainly do a lot to bring the kit up to date. I especially like the Firestone logo on the tyres

Always have had a 'soft' spot for the LRDG 30CWT Chevy by Tamiya. Great to see it's been re-issued. No doubt with all the additions will turn out a great diorama.

It's starting to look "filled in" very nicely. Nice use of the resin add-ons.

Hey Pat, nice work with the resin accessories and the stowage- I'm sure it will look great all painted up.

Looking good so far.....I especially like the AM parts, I got one of these kits built up doing nothing, looks like I will have to invest in some accessories. Keep up th eprogress.
