Been there, done that. Is it a faulty gene we have, or do they spray something in the air in those shops. It will all 'come in handy' at some point, at least that is what I keep telling myself when I do the same thing.

That's why I hate it when the Mrs finds out. I went for a "few paints" and walk out with a Badge 105 air brush.

Don't feel bad, you did get the two paint brushes. You've got an issue when you walk out of the store without what you intended to get.

My paint range now consists of almost every Tamiya XF series color, minus most of the Japanese Army/Navy colors, and a handful of the X series, along with two different clears. Brings the total to 69 different colors (79 counting duplicates - I've since started keeping an inventory in an Excel spreadsheet....) Luckily my wife never goes into my room under the stairs....for now at least.....

You might be surprised!
I never could hide any of my model stuff from my wife, but she's always figured that it was cheaper and better than me hanging out with the boys.
If you wife ever asks, just tell here those jars of paint are cheaper each than a bottle of beer at club, you don't have to tip the guy at the hobby shop, and there's no cover charge either!
At least she knows where to find you at night!

Yeah, my wife does not understand how I can spend $100 on just a couple bottles of paint, and maybe a bottle of glue.
The fun things you can find at the local hobby store.

HavenŽt we all? I purposely keep myself away from the hobby shops, as I donŽt "need" anything. Its amazing how things still manage to sneak through the letter box. IŽd worry less about that, if I was actually building something.

Uh hu, sure you did, don't worry, your secrets safe with us; unless your wife checks out the site. Been there, done that and had to come up with a strange excuse. See what happens when I goto the LHS unsupervised?? I honestly only intended on buying the two paint brushes!!

Luckily I do have an airbrush, because I'm not too keen on painting large surfaces with the hairy stick!

I love going to shows where some bloke has bought a 1/300 USS Enterprise, or 1/16 Tumpeter King Tiger, or a Revell 1/72 PT boat. He has the warm glow of a kid opening a present on Christmas Day as he riffles through the box of precious sprues, then the colour drains from his face as the dawning realisation...'Oh c***, how am I going to get this into the house past the missus....' Priceless.

On that note, I've got it pretty easy. I just leave it in the car until the next day (my wife and I have seperate vehicles) and when I come home for lunch (I get home before her) first place I go is my modeling closet/room and hide them behind all the kits I already have!

That sounds familiar too, I tend to go the hobby store on days my wife works late, so I can get it in the house and dispersed into the collection hoping she won't notice, and for some reason when I mail order, I tend to plan it to arrive on days she works late too.......

I have to do all My stuff on-line,I have no LHS That's probably a good thing So I plan and plan, watch for specials, write everything down, double check My order, and the minute the process gets to the "can no longer change your order"part,I realize,I forgot 2 things.
Oh and I get home before my Wife everyday, and I do have My own e-mail address.I don't think it would make any difference though Or maybe it would Jeff T.

Ha ha, same here --- leave it in the car for the night, and early next morning before anyone else is up, quietly slip it in the stash room.

I usually buy a backseat full of kits, conversions, books, and other goodies at every AMPS International show I go to. My ex-wife (note the ex-) was very critical of my buying habits and I had to find a solution. Yes, divorcing her was a perfect solution, but before that here's what I did:
At every AMPS show I'd buy $20 worth of raffle tickets, which usually nets me 2 or 3 kits. Then at the end of the show, I'd take a roll of tape and my left over tickets, and tape them to about half the kits I had bought! I'd walk in the house, "I bought this stuff here, but just look at all this I won in the raffle!" It was a great plan.
I'm remarried now and my wife doesn't mind my hobby a bit. I always come back from the LHS with more than I went for, but I've got all the serious gear, I've been building for 45 years, and I spend about 1% of my income on the hobby and the kids always have shoes on their feet. I'm not out drinking, gambling, watching strippers, or base jumping. Our oldest daughter is married to a hunter / golfer / fisher / skier, so anytime we talk money and hobbies, I just point to him and I'm absolved! Yes, I have a club, run a huge show, and work for Armorama, but my wife doesn't mind any of that, either.
We're all the same, you know. This really is a magnificent obsession we have.

Women on average spend lots of money in bags, make-up, jewels ,shoes, clothes and so on. They always buy LOTS of fool things which are no needful at all...Why are they so boring when they judge our purchases?

I understand exactly what you are saying there, and I approve of your previous methods!
Currently, this passionate obsession has my wife cringing and rolling her eyes at moments, but she understand why I model now. -Slight Backstory- I'm an active duty US Marine, with multiple combat deployments, and have been diagnosed with PTSD. For whatever reason, the attention to detail and relatively slow pace (all relative to the individual) of building, detailing, and weathering a model help me cope with some of the things that go on inside my head and has a very calming effect on me; so in that sense she understands and supports me.
But, I always make sure that the bills are paid, the shelves are stocked with food, and my wife and son are taken care of before I even think about a trip to the LHS. Win - win in my book, that's for sure!
