Both sides practiced deception during the war. Here a kubelwagon in disguised as a Pz.I. Hasagawa kit with a scratchbuilt fake tank shell(made out of styrene and tape).

Comments welcomed. Thanks for viewing. Bill

That's very cool William. Was wondering if I'd ever see some of the dummy tanks and jeeps get built.

Thanks Christopher. I saw a photo of this fake in one of my reference books....I had to try my hand at it. Bill

The scene is well done. So you scratched the dummy tank? Great job on it. Looks fun to try

@panzerman1 – William,

Creative work, this fake tank needed to be rendered in this scale and posted here and you’ve just managed both, well done . . . hihi! I like the figure, tent and fuel can with its pump. The tent looks like a good place for one to go and hide under when the desert sun is out.

Thanks for posting and sharing your work here, hoping to see more.

William,

A very cool idea & well done indeed, I had just seen one of the "shermans" made in 1/72 at my local club, now I have seen both sides "phony" war machines

Cheers mike

@panzerman1 - Bill,

Very creative and interesting subject. The figure looks great and the Kubel painting is really well done. Now the question is, what next? While doing research for a couple of articles I ran across these adhoc tanks based on the VW chassis. Now the real kicker is that the Germans actually built armoured Kubelwagens mounting what appears to be a Panzer I turret. From what the book said, the tires were filled with sand due to the weight of the turret and armour. Still, I'd doubt they were very good off road or in the snow. Might make an interesting conversion though!

Cheers,
Jan

William, your project really caught my attention. Nicely done, and certainly an unusual subject matter.
