Hello, i have a question about the armored protection kit of the HEMTT family.
In the Tankograd book Armored HEMTT N'3004 are showing the Versions of Crew Protection Kits. The first is from the Bosnia operation in 1996, the others, CPK model A and CPK model B i know, but the last version i didn't know, in this book are 2 pictures of these Protection Kit on a M983 HEMTT tractor truck that pulled a M870 low bed trailer. The M983 has a gunner shield and gunner protection kit on the add-on armor installed. Does anybody pictures of this add-on armor version?
I build on the Italeri M977 HEMTT, but i would build it in to a M983 tractor truck with this add-on armor that pulled the m870 low bed trailer

There are actually at least 4 CPK variants prior to the LTAS A-Kit/B-Kit arrangement: Generation I (designed for Bosnia), Generation II, Generation IIIA, and Generation IIIB. I haven't seen a picture of the Generation II kit, but this could be it. The current US Army TB on this available online only covers the IIIA and IIIB. These could also be the HEMTT Frag 5 doors, which I'm also having trouble finding pictures of.

The pictured cab (minus the doors) reminds me of the one developped a few years ago by TCI Composites as seen on this PDF brochure :

...but the final product was different :

Thanks for the info's, but maybe this armored cab on the M983 is a prototype? I can't find any pictures with this Cab version.
What for versions of the M983 it gives? I know the two models with crane and without a crane, but gives others? In this book on the second pictures i mean to see an whinch on the place where the spare tyre is placed (not on the site of the engine/ behind the cabin).

Hallo Sascha,
there several walkarounds on the M983 on http://www.primeportal.net
There is also a resin kit of the M983 from a Spanish company called NIMIX. But be warned, the kit is pretty Scheisse and requries a lot of work. And I am not sure if it`s still in production. As for the crane question, I have to consult my HEMTT TM`s.

Hi Hans Hermann, cooler Akzent: is pretty scheisse.
Did have anyone pictures of the air conditioning system for the Crew protection Kit of the HEMTT Trucks? Are any cables or so on this thing, and where they goes to the Cabin?

The TM I've seen about the HEMTT CPK doesn't mention it
Maybe the Technical Bulletin for the A/C kit would help ?

@ Frenchy,
I just found the TM for the A/C system on the HEMTT. But it look like the A/C components are attached in the engine compartment, not visible from the outside. nd the collant lones rumming under the cab to the trucks dashboard.
Cheers
Hans-Hermann

I have started the build of my M983 HEMTT with the unknown add-on armored cab. At first the frame was build with all the suspension parts, the wheels are the new fron legend and very good. I know i must short the frame, but this i will make when i finished the cab and the conversion sets is comming from real model, the engine and brake set for the HEMTT and the M931 conversion set, i hope i can use some parts of this conv. set. I will see. Here the pictures:

Just I got to start putting money aside for when this conver comes out from Perfect Scale models. Any chance of a PLS conver and A M989 MLRS resupply trailer. Also maybe a parts trailer for the M925 tractor truck

What, perfect scale planed a conversion set from the M983 or M1177 LHS?
Today i have build a little bit. I have cut out a piece from the frontsegment off the add-on armor. Then i scratched the segment on the front of the frame that hold the cab. I must scraching new the part that i cut out of the front, but i think thats no problem.

Hi Joey,
it`s not that easy to become a master modeller for PSM, I know Mr. Betzler, owner of PSM since I while. I offered him a conversion kit for the M981 but it was rejected. Most recently I offered him materials for the M1102 LTT but got no response.
But I think that there are at Least two people here that have very good relations with PSM. I personally think tat PSM will stick to Bundeswehr items since a CPK for HEMTT will make little sense when ony the old Itlarei dog kit of the HEMTT is available.
Just my 2 cents
Hans-Hermann

I have scrached new the middle part of the front armor and the 3 segments under it. And the sideparts where the doors are placed and the two doors are being scrached. I wish you all a merry x-mas.
