Unfortunately, markings for the Pz.Reg. 8, 15.PzDiv are not available. Luckily, I have not added that much rust. I plan on dusting the vehicle with AK Interactive's North Africa sand.

Hi Matt,
This Echelon set is in any case usefull and has all you need.
If you want to stay on the white painted wheel rubbers, than you have to choose the division sign for the 15.PD (red triangle). Out from my head (and even as seen on the pictures in this thread) you have to use a red "2" for the turret and small red numbers with 211 or 212 or 213 or 214. In any case the 2nd company (and probably even more), from 1st Abt., Pz. Reg. 8 had the wheels painted, and was equipped with PzIII.
But to be historically correct: In march 1941 this (white painted) tanks was Ausf. "G" and "H", while your kit is a very late "J" with modified tropical hatches, introduced in begin 01/1942.
BTW: Is this Echelon decal set now out for sales or still announced ?

Hello Erich,
well to be correct in the book "Unter der gluehenden Sonne Afrikas" the word "wahrscheinlich" is used and that means,
as far as I know - probably or possibly, this I also mentioned (Meine Sprach Kenntnisse der Deutschen Sprache sind recht gut, nach dem ich 28 Jahre dort lebe)
And what is of the other vehicles that took part in the parade, none have white tyres.
Further in the book it is said, that there is no real evidence that the parade is proof for the white tyres. It just remains a mystery. Even more so as they had painted the spares too.
Please don´t get the wrong impression, I´m just stating whats writen in the book and not looking for trouble.
Have a nice weekend all
Paul

Thanks, Paul. That really saved me a headache. I'm going to have to repaint the road wheels. They turned out way too yellow. However, I am now working on a review and will have to set this one aside. I should be back at it in a week or two.

Hey Matt,
I don't have any A13's, but I have a bunch of A17's and A19's. By chance, could you use the A19's from the kit and drill the opening slightly larger to fit onto the suspension arm?

I got some parts in and couldn't stand not working on the panzer. So here are a couple of photos.
The pictures are a little washed out. I post some better ones, with my next round of updates.

Mike: Thank you. Got the wheels in. Unfortunately, it looks like the envelope got wet and hung as a target for darts. All the pins were broken off.
I went ahead and contacted Dragon. Excellent customer service! They responded immediately with what they needed and I am expecting a shipping quote, soon.

Hey,
I guess I could have packaged them a little better. I didn't think they would have been that trashed (thats why I sent all of the extras), but I didn't really pad them either.
Live and learn. Glad to hear dragon models will help.

I like your progress on this Pz.Kpfw III, Matt. Especially looking forward to the DAK weathering with the AK product.
Are those sandbags after-marked parts or included in the kit?

Thank you. The sand bags are am parts by Panzer Art. There were two pieces, but the ones that mount to the hull would cover the hatches. I intend to add an interior and leave said hatches open. I believe it would be more realistic for the crew to let cooler air circulate through the tank.

I've been caught up on other builds, while I waited for the replacement parts. I have some minor work, on two other kits, before they are completed. As soon as I can clear some workbench, I'll get back to the III. Should only take a few days.

After a long break(too long), I have revisited this kit. I'll be stuck inside, for a while. Rainy days. So, I started adding some sand pigment to the kit. This is AK's North Africa Sand. I should have plenty of time to play with it.
I'll post some better photos, tomorrow.

Well, maybe just one more. Not all of the sand pigments have been fixed.

Finished weathering the hull. I may add fuel stains around the gas cap.

I've flat coated it. I think I will apply a sand filter, to help even out the pigment. Opinions appreciated.

Hey,
I think it is a well done kit. Only thing I do see wrong, or may be it's my eyes playing tricks on me. But on the 5th photo, the right side of the turret. It looks to me if the open hatch hinge is off centre. Do you see it?

It looks fine from the photos. The sand does not look stark.
I don't seem to see much of wash on the details, it may have something to do with the photo ?

Just noticed that. I'll put the assembly in the freezer, for an hour or two.

Yes, indeed. The pigments covered the wash. I will see about adding another clear coat, tomorrow.
