Hi David ..I for one like the idea of the new kit.. I really don't see how they saved much money by adding a new lower hull when they already had the molds from the original kit,but hey I can live with it .
One thing we need is an earlier version of the Tiger like those seen with the earlier type feifel system and the holes over the drivers visor... (well I would like one..) A zimmerited Mid and a new late with the latest zimmerit parts from the mid kit (which looks awesome by the way..)Dragon will empty my wallet with each release.. Dragon has been milking the Tiger kits for so long ..Come on Dragon finish what you've started. We're here and waiting .

Even though I have already ordered one kit, I would really like to know what markings/ decal options are provided with the kit.
Thank you!

Just two markings;
1314 of LAH, battle of Kursk
131 of s.Pz.Abt 502, lake Ladoga
Obviously this kit could have a hundred different markings, but the intent was to keep its cost low.

David ref your all singing and all dancing Tiger 1 question, I suspect that the Tiger 1 is one of the few kits that would still sell with a high price due to the increased contents. By the same score I also know that the number of DML kits stocked with bricks and mortar retail outlets has been greatly reduced along with Tamiya products due to prices.

Dave sorry to keep going back to this. But can you post two more things? Images of the parts map and the painting options? Thanks

I'm imagine we're going to see everything in the kit very very soon.
I had a email from cyber-hobby saying my order had been 'Shipped' on the 17th.

Hi David
General feedback regarding Tigers or any other model for that matter; I buy kits with tracks in them that I can use. I do not like one length tracks ... the DS tracks look lovely ... detail-wise, but they do not sit naturally without gluing them down, and this isn´t always so practical after painting. Id prefer their indy tracks ... even if it means cutting them from the sprue myself to keep costs down.
When I see a kit with one-length tracks, I automatically add the cost of AM tracks to the cost and suddenly its not as appealing.

These are the latest that I got, but they were not quite finished. The unit of "131" should be s.Pz.Abt. 502

Thank you for the info, David!
Edit: The only thing that I don't like is is the two-piece turret.

I just saw the new information on Hobbysearch, including the instructions.
It seems as if the MG Dust Cover is not included in the final kit??
Can anyone confirm this - would make me veeery unhappy, because I also bought the panzerart barrel with canvas cover.
Does anyone know where to get the mg dust cover?

Jens, IIRC, dust covers for MGs are rarely included in DML/CH Wehrmacht tank kits. You generally have to make them yourself.

Why does the instructions call for 4 holes to be drilled in the bottom of the hull?
Other than the wheels, looks like a pretty nice kit

Jens; this kit doesn't have the old "P" sprue from the "Tiger I initial production" because it doesn't need the torsion bars. That sprue carried the canvas dust cover, so it's not in this kit.

That's not "drill", it's "fill".

Quoted TextI would also like to see them rerelease their original Late model with all the bells and whistles PLUS rear fenders.
OK, let me jump in here to ask you something; what would you pay for that particular kit? Because I believe that changes in the internal Chinese labour and materials cost structures, plus currency exchange rates, would rule out a repeat of the original price. Which was possibly a discount anyway.
David
I know many will balk at the idea but I consider around $100USD to be a good price for a good kit. Many won't want to pay that but twice as many will. We already do, we just do it by buying add-ons. 1/32 aircraft modellers frequently pay more than that, likewise 1/350 ship modellers.
Maybe an alternative is to do a "Basic" and a "Premium" version if the cost of adding in lots of bits and pieces ( bits that were nice but not essential ) pushed the price too high.
I have the same problem as Bill and others, being in NZ I have to pre-order from DragonUSA and we always seem to draw the short straw when more are preordered than are available ( the White box kits ).

As an Orange Box kit, does that mean it has the "issues" of the previous Early Tigers?

I personally checked the instructions. Most of the issues from the old "Wittman Early" don't exist here.
