Hi David
Is this kit correct for the tigers that fought in Kharkov in early 1943?
Thank
Idan

Could you be more specific? Whose Tigers and what date?

David

405 was a Befehlstiger, so that's different. It is also an earlier Tiger than this kit. The turret bin and Feifels are different types.

As an Orange Box kit, does that mean it has the "issues" of the previous Early Tigers?

I personally checked the instructions. Most of the issues from the old "Wittman Early" don't exist here.

So there are no accuracy issues with this kit? If so, then it's a helluva price for an accurate Tiger I.

Yep, I think so, too. That's good news for me.

Hope, my kit arrives next week or so. Unfortunately, I am quite busy at work right now. I hope, I can start my build next weekend

Hi fellows!
I got couple questions regarding this kit. I'm planning to build this kit as part of Tiger I -campaign on finnish modelling site and my target would be that "131" of pz.abt. 502 on Lake Ladoga June -43. Just couple issues:
- Did 131 had extra tracks mounted on turret sides and hull front?
- was it painted only with dunkelgelb?
- were there smokegranadelaunchers mounted on turret at that time?

David or anyone else, who has info, could you kindly help? I don't know how many of those corrections for early Wittman Tiger are accurate for this kit. All of them?

Nothing on the sides. We have no photos of the front, but other tanks in the same company at the same time had nothing.

- was it painted only with dunkelgelb?

It certainly looks that way, or else it has been painted with mud.

- were there smokegranadelaunchers mounted on turret at that time?

Yes.

Very few. The instructions are newly drawn and I personally checked them. But there is an errata sheet because of a tight deadline.

Thx a million, David! I counted on you. Reason for these guestions were those Dragon instructions which pointed, that you should add extra tracks on turret sides but in colourschemes they were missing.. I did found two photos showing 131 at that timeperiod on Tiger im focus -site; one from front, when it had number 22 on turret and one from side, showing s-granadelaunchers on turretside. Couldn't see extra tracks on fronthull properly and Dragons instructions lack those launchers from turret.
I think I can build a Tiger I, which is enough correct for me, my first by the way..

I assume that you're looking on the ab Mai 1943 page? Because I can't see any photos of 131 with 22 on the turret.
Another detail is that 131 doesn't seem to have the small folding legs on the engine hatch.

You have to scroll halfway down. 1 thing: can't see where the shovel is located on those pics in your link..

The front shovel would be in the usual position, e.g. like in Bovington.

Does anyone know if any online shops have the kit available? Tried HLJ and it is backordered already.

Cheers,

My LHS still can't find them. I am really getting disappointed and might just cancel my order.

Sounds like their are some issues with this kit. There is a thread on another site outlining them.

Missing-lynx.
Look under the Axis discussion group. I am going to hold off on this one, doesn't seem worth it.
