Hi John;
Which Tank are the treads for, If you are refering too the rubber band type then Good Luck.
The only way too Affix the tracks would be too Staple or Sew them back together. There are ways to Hide the joint that was cut, Its never a Good Idea too shorten rubber band type tracks, it leads too more Troubles.
CHEERS; MIKE.

The tank in question is a JS-2 by zvezda. The "new" tracks are the vinyl/rubber ones from a Trumpeter KV-2. they are too long.

I've done it with rubber tracks before. Make the connection point on the bottom of a road wheel where you can attach them securely.

I did the same thing with mine . I cut off two track links and stapled the track togrther . I hid the staple under a road wheel and a cover of " mud " . I used thin paper clips through the side of the tank to get the desired track sag .When all paint and weathering is done they can't be seen.

I haven't shortened any of the rubber type tracks, but I stapled two Tamiya tracks, each with two staples. Just position the staples under a fender or under a road wheel, and after painting and weathering , they're nearly impossible to see.
