Nothing on the side skirts?
Front hull ERA bricks sit WAY too high for the scale.

Agreed. They look way to pronounced, unless they're sitting on some spaced armor or something similar? Then again, I know nothing about Cold War armor, or Russian armor for that matter.

And thats the reason its a test shot. Who knows if frontal ERA is even fixed to the plate? And that the side ERA is missing means nothing, again its a test shot. Pretty excited about this one, can´t wait to see the final product. Tahnks for the pic.

Wow...very cool. Must have one. Something about a vehicle with reactive armor bricks.

Best wishes, Ian

I think that era bricks on averge have a good rendition only when they're made on PE parts. I agrred with the guys which say that they look a bit oversized.

Anyway, I have too many kits in my stash, I think I'll wait to buy this one, but actually that's the vesion that I've been waiting for a while

That's just some kind of nightmare to an average builder. Remember, as a mainstream manufacturer they have to sell A LOT of kits, not alienate mass buyer with a box proudly proclaiming that there 217 ERA bricks one can fold and glue. And there are connecting rods, two per brick, but not always same in length.

Yes, that was just my opinion. Brick size aside, I don't think that the kit gives a bad rendition of the actual subject and I know that they have to produce their products thinking to average modellers. However, If I bought it I'd buy the Voyager ERA bricks, because as you know ERA bricks don't look exactly like "bricks"

I don't know if they could offer in the box some PE frets as an alternative to the plastic bricks. I think it might be a good idea.
Regarding what the "unfamous average modeller" wants or needs, I remember that at the beginning several people thought that single track links would have been too tough and boring to tackle for the average modellers, far tougher than the awful vinyl tracks. Nowadays it's hard to accept a kit wich doesn't provide them... All in all I think that being demanding can improve what the companies offer.

Just my two cents anyway

Best regards

Pic is too small to tell how good or bad Trumpy got their ERA. K-1/3 authentic drawings with dimensions are all over the net, will judge them when I get my paws on the actual plastic (though I already have Miniarm set as a substitute).

So this kit is actually an A with ERA, or so the Trumpeter-Hobbyboss Facebook fan page says. I never knew they put ERA on the A?

No, it's a BV model. All the tell tale signs are there: Cobra box, large rangefinder, rearranged fender fuel tanks.

Many A-model tanks were retrofitted with ERA package after BV model was introduced in 1983. They also upgraded all surviving AK, BK and many post 79 production B's.

Well, trumpeter did just release their T-64B......

Not hard to imagine they added the nice extra bits to turn out the T-64BV

With the T-64's done, we can have T-72 now? One can hope they keep up the trend.

You can have one right now from Tamiya. It's an excellent kit, just not a USSR operated version.
