Can any one recommend an article or tutorial on modifying your figures pose? or if you have type your own version here.
I want a German pilot hanging from a parachute. at the minute he sits holding a control stick. maybe a bit ambitious I know especially in 1:72! but any help appreciated. can't find any soldiers in this pose or anything similar.

I've looked into this as well, specifically for a M60A1 from the Gulf War that I'm working on for a SgtMaj here in Okinawa, using a reference photo that he gave me.

The best thing I have seen, and this was from looking the the "Scratchbuild" section IIRC, is to cut the joints apart (using your tool of choice), then using a pin vise, drill a small hole and inserting a bit of wire to hold the pieces together. Then position the limbs accordingly, and use your favorite epoxy/putty, whathaveyou, to scuplt in the missing piece.

Best explination I can give, I haven't had my required three cups of coffee yet this morning. Hope it helps!

Thanks, yes I get what you mean I will give it a go but I think it will end in needing another figure!
also I couldn't find out how a German pilot got out the plane. did they just pop the canopy and jump? say from 1940-1945 messershmidt. when I first had the idea I thought this will be easier the seat ejects and the chute decends pilot and seat together. then it dawned on me this is not a modern day fighter plane Lmao

I don't think that they had ejection seats during World War II, IIRC the pilot had to get out of the cockpit on his own. Also, they needed to be safely away from the aircraft before deploying their parachute to prevent the canopy from getting caught anywhere on the plane.

Sounds like you have a single-piece seated pilot figure which will be almost impossible to modify, although you can salvage the head. If you have any standing soldier figures in 1/72 you could try modifying him as per AngryE6 above, resculpting uniform details, and using the pilot head. Styrene plastic figs are easier to work than soft plastic ones. Preiser make styrene fig sets and have some Luftwaffe figs.

The single best explanation I have seen on this is in the book "Converting and detailing Plastic Figures" from Squadron/Signal. The book is written by Bill Chilstrom. Anybody interested in doing coversions, should at least read it but worth forking out for.
