Hi folks. The above conversion kit I have on order and it should be here any day now so while I eagerly await it's arrivel I have been doing the base kit which is the Tamiya GMC kit but I an adding Aber PE as I go. I will be having the bonnet up on this one to display the motor which I have detailed too. This is the first time I have used Aber PE and for the extra few Dollars will from now on buy Aber rather then Eduard when I can. I know that in places I have a few Glue spots but these will be hidden once the paint is applied.

the whole cab/chassis with parts

the PE grill went togeather well

the engine bay from above

the cab

the fire wall

the windscreen. The frame I made from brass wire as the plastic broke when it got to thin. I intend leaving the frame upright but the windscreen itself open.

Also I am going to use the folded canvas roof in the Tamaya GMC accessory kit and when the truck is complete I will be doing my first dio and also my first figures to go with it, so I will be asking for adsvice on painting the figures when the time comes.

Hi Cliff, Looking really good! I just started my GMC last nite. Im doing it OOB. One question..I assume the gas tank that comes with the Tamiya is assembled to the kit? 3 more come with the conversion. This conversion cries out for a dio so I will also be doing one. I ordered up the figures last nite, 6 total..should keep me busy for a long time!

The main reason I have not fitted the fuel Tank is that as I have not recieved my kit to check yet I do not know what gets changed behind the cab. I already think I have made a mistake by adding the spare wheel carrier to the chassis as I think one of the kit tanks takes it's place. I too have figures on order for the dio. Mainly Verlinden as female 1/35 scale figures that can be used as Red Cross Ladies are few and far between. Also getting a mechanic who will be leaning over the mudguard checking the oil. NOTE the PE dipstick on the motor

You are right about that..spare tire holder is cut off to make room for the tank. As for the Tamiya tank..I do believe it is used.

Use either CA (Super glue) glue or epoxy. I prefer CA and you can get it at hobby shops, hardware stores or even discount stores. Get a decent name brand gel and it will serve you well -- the "regular" is too thin for most model applications, IMHO.

this is the only pic I have found so far showing the Red Cross Clubmobile. It is only a small pic but handy for some details. There were about 140 odd GMC's converted all up to club mobiles

I use both CA (superglue) 60second set time and 5 minute 2 part apoxy for resin. The CA is able to be used in most applications but where a part is going to have some sideways movement or strength is required due to cantilevers etc I use the epoxy as it has more 'all round strength' then CA.

Hi Cliff, I hope Im not stepping on your toes here. Thought I would show you a shot of the size of this puppy and also , hopefully keep you from making some of the mistakes Ive made. The spare tire holder does come off. The two rear "bumpers" also need to be removed. When I put the fridge in( on the left) I assumed it would be flush with the raised floor. I was wrong. When I put on the wall section I realized it should be pushed back as a main support for said wall. They are very thin and a bit of warp is there but, the fridge in the right place would have cured that one.So the fridge is coming out tomorrow(acetone I think?)and reglue it the right way.The fuel tank that comes with the Tamiya kit is used. Instructions are very bare! GL with this one ..she is a beauty!!!

John be careful the acetone does not melt or damage the resin! Try slipping a thin sharp blade under it first and putting just a little leverage on it to break the glue seal.

Other then that it looks good and as far as instructions are concerned good modelers like you and me should be able to read between the lines.....Hmmmmmmm #:-)

Excellent looking work here - I love that shot of the windscreen frame and the detailing of the engine. I also like the way you are keeping us bang upto date with the work in progress.

Good show!
