Jim,
take note that the tracks are mounted the wrong direction. The chevron should "point" forward.

Hi Jim;
Just wanted too let you know that the Tamiya T-72 Turret is the one that i used on my T-72/auf-1, its was real simple as the Tam, kit turret is two parts. All that you need is too just use a razor saw & cut the bottom t-ring off. It fits perfectly on the bottom of the Turret, it just needs a lil-filler. Altho- my conversion was based on the old Heller kit.
BTW your kit is OUTSTANDING
CHEERS; MIKE.

Thanks for pointing it out though, I thought I had it right. still trying to make a little more detail interior before I have to close him up. I will post more pictures in the morning. Olivier by chance would you have a picture of the interior top looking to the back from either door.

Jim,
have you search through the walkarounds I have in my website?
The model depicted by Meng is the AuF1 TM which is listed AuF1 in my list but the page title is AuF1 TM. You'll have some pictures of the interior that could help.

Good day all:
Here are the latest, Preparing tracks for stain I use Novacan
Black Patina
Some interior shots, I am ready to close up the turret
I was really surprised at how well the fit is on all the turret pieces, I use 1/8 inch masking tape to hold every thing toghter, It is a good addition to your tool box, I still have to paint the shell ends, but I am going to close her up today and start on the exterior. Still have not receved my PE set yet, but I did get a parcel from Germany Saturday ordered around the same time so hopefully this week .

Hi all:
I am still waiting on the PE parts ordered from Lucky Model and Shipped from Germany I am pretty much done with the turret minus a few fragile parts that I will glue on last .
My thoughts on the kit are: It went toghter very easy, no warped parts and very little flash. I would have liked to see a metal barrel for the main gun and MG, but that's what keeps the AM companys busy. From the picture That I looked at Meng did a pretty good job on it, I can't wait for their D9 to come out and have talked with a couple of friends to keep an eye out for it. It will look good with the Hobby Boss HET kit. I have the resin D9 all ready built and I hope they do a better job with the tracks. but I look forward to building it. so on a scale of 1 to 10 I would give this a 8 , if you like large guns than this is a must have for your collection and it will be displayed with my other SPG in the glass case. So until I get the PE in I am going back to the Panzer shop Pion.
I will post again when I have the parts. For all of you that have been commenting and providing information, Thanks for the help
More later

Good news:
My PE set came in yesterday, and I sent a review to Armorama so you can see more
Just a couple of parts in and the detail is wonderful, I have a whole new kit just with the lower hull.

Hi all sorry for being gone for so long, My back was bothering me ,I was haveing problems sitting, but here is the news I picked up a Tamiya T-72M1 from a friend of mine and the MENG turret fits it perfict, almost as it was designed to. So for all you out there who wanted to do the T-72 conversion here is wwhat you need. I am working on mt PE skills and I am rustey. The Voyager set that I bought for the AMX-30B reall brings the detail out in the hull, and I did a review with the help of a very understanding editor. I know what I want to say, but getting it to sound right is hard. Well I will have photos to post on Monday.
Thanks
Jim

That's a sweet model! The interior detail is incredible!
But I must say that my favorite thing in all your photos is the Jackelope figurine!

Good day all:
as I said it the beginning India was looking at the SPG but it had to go on a T-72 body. I tried Dragons T-72 and Zvezda with no luck. I picked up a Tamiya T-72 M1 and the fit was perfect. If you want to do a different build here is a good choice for you.
As you can see its a good fit, but I am going to build out the normal kit.

Hi Guys:
just a small update: pe screens installed on rear deck and starting to install the lower hull parts on the rear
I'm sorry I haven't been doing much lately but I have been dealing with identify theft, some one filed a federal tax return using my number and now my return with my refund is delayed for 6 months to 2 years, this really sucks the life out of you. There is nothing I can do. The IRS won't tell me anything, so protect that ss number

Well I just found out that a PE set of the AUF1 is out for the kit. I can still work on the tank part but there are a few items I would like for the turret so as soon as I can find a set I will get it ordered. I am hopeing that it is still 19.99 we shall see.
The PE set is from Voyager and part # is PE35563

Jim,
I hate to tell you this but your engine grille is ill oriented. Yours has a 90° angle from the actual thing.
Here is a correct one
Hope you can fix it.

My mistake, Thanks for pointing it out. I will flip it
I found my mistake, there are 2 screens in the kit and I had grabbed the wrong one so a little sanding and the screen is corrected
Thanks

Thanks all for the comments as earlier I found out yesterday there was a new pe for the FAU1 so I placed the order and it was $23.00 free shipping from lucky models, but it is not in stock and I am hoping that since it ships from Germany I am hoping it will go out next week. but I can still work on the bottom. I built one of the gas can brackets soldering instead of CA and I am happy with the results. I will post pictures after I get the 2nd done.

Hi Jim;
Im Really Stocked by your build Fantastic Work.
When you do the T-72/Auf-1 make sure that you get the correct spaceing between the bottom of the turret & top of the Hull, As i said before, just cut the bottom of the tamiyas turret ring and then attach too the bottom of the Aufs turret and you will have the correct Height for the turret/hull ratio.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK; MIKE.

Hi all
After a nice long break, look at what I got in the mail today,
So time to blow the dust off the kit and finish this build. I will take pictures of the PE tomorrow and post. I paid around $20.00 for this set and that included shipping from or friends at Lucky Model. I had ordered the set once and after a couple of weeks no shipping notice so I canceled and later reordered when stock came in. any how they are here and its a nice set with MG parts
