Heh Guys

Here is a short insight on my ongoing M1 projects, on some I have be working on for about 3 years already ... and no end in sight.
So figures and accessories are next for all of them.
Here is "Blitzkrieg" 1-1 CAV from around 1999 - 2002, this unit had AIMs with the power socket on the hull just like the A2s.

"Crackerhead" from the 1-37AR BANDITS in winter 2005, this one will get a little snow here and there.

Here is my actual project a USMC M1 in A-stan.

Here another USMC M1 with the Dozer and backdated to HA version from around 2007 - 2008.

And this is a M1A2 SEP from Korea before they were upgraded to V2.

This M1A1 AIM, 1-1 CAV from 2005 is the only one which is actually finished ... except for the figure of the loader.
It's the only one already on a base, antennas and all.

Please enjoy!

Cheers
Christopher

PS: Just primed the turret of the AMX 30 I finished and working on a Leopard 1 hull.

Quite an impressive collection. you have there. I can't find anything that involves criticism. I never thought of a M1A2 SEP, in Korean service. As good as they already are, I'm looking forward to seeing them finished. Please, keep us up to speed.

Certainly an outstanding and focused 3 year project to date. All the paint schemes look great, as does your weathering in the one finished model. Like Matt, I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of all of them once they're finished.

That is some seriously nice airbrushing Chris - I bet you can spray them in your sleep now!

I'd like to see you do an early M1 in the 4-color cam aka MERDC.

Really nice collection Christopher. As Graeme puts it you must build a plain M1 now

No problemo
NATO camo on any tank is no big deal but it is still very time consuming because I spray very thin and sharp edged layers.
I'll start on a M60A2 soon so MERDC it will probably be and here some more:

Did this Panther about 9 - 10 years ago:

Scott
The Slave Cables are made of lead wire with thin lead sheet as clamps, the sockets fabricated from Evergreen rectangular profiles and tubes.
Painted black and carefully set into place, some touching up ... finished.
I believe Max has some pics of his slavesin the making in his "Prom Queen" thread.

Christopher
This pic was the inspiration for this project, since I couldn't find out all the real names of the crew members I thought Star Trek members would be a nice "alternative".

Thankx guys

Really nice collection! Is the M1A2 SEP the Dragon kit? Having a hard time deciding if I’m going to get the Dragon or Tamiya A2. U seem to have some experience, which one would you recommend?

Defiantly the Dragon kit
The A1 AIM or the A2 are the best kits around ... just compare the price of the new TAMIYA kit.
Check out Dustan's "TAMIYA M1A2 Tusk II build" to see all the minor correction needed. If TAMIYA would just offer the Tusk 2 as a separate upgrade kit
But overall the DRAGON kits are the most accurate around.

Yeah a nice alternative, though people might think you're a closet Trekkie now. The Prom Queen thread is a great build seeing as you mentioned it.

You can never have too many Abrams'! You should do a feature article on painting and finishing the M1

Hey James
Nice work!
Got the old Tamiya kit myself on Ebay recently, really cheap I must say
so I shall be following your footsteps soon.
I will go the extra length and make the IP version probably in winter camo like the did in Germany.

Cheers

I have an IP in the works also. It's got the first coat of paint but I am looking for something different. I was going to make Bill the Cat from the CAT Shoot but I cant find decent decals and I tried to make my own and that did not work out well. I saw a 2nd AD scheme with some black wavy lines that I may do. Just one of many M1's I have going right now

James, I got decals from the academy kit#1345 M1A1. It is from CAT shoot. The markings are from 3AD 4/8 AR BN, its got a big 3AD patch for one side of the turret and a crazy cat for the other. If you pm me your addy I'll just sent them.

James,
If you are doing a 4-8 Cav CAT 87 tank, then do a Google search for "CAT 87". There is a page out there that had some good photos of the 3AD CAT team and their IPs. One detail point is that the tanks had the M1 style side racks that didn't run the full length of the turret (unlike the later IPs, M1A1s, and M1A2s) and the added bustle racks.

Sorry to hijack the discussion, Chris. You got some nice builds going on... Like all of the rest of us, I will offer some encouragement to finish them.

John
