That is an interesting collection of parts you got there. You can almost built something Steampunk with that. I'm very curious what that will become.

As for the deadline. You still got 22 days left. So it comes closer but I'm sure you can make something good out of it. I can continue from this day again as well. As today the wall returns as a nice resin kit. And I have to say that it will be an incredibly busy 22 days if I want to have a chance on finishing on time.

Waheeey!!!! Postie arrived today with a package from the South of the Netherlands and in it was one of the first casts of my Dio that became a master and eventually evolved into this... the product. Soon to be available from Reality in Scale... I'm as proud as a peacock I can tell you that.

Hey all, it's been a while since I have posted anything here. It just occurred to me that we only have 2 weeks left to finish this campaign. Crap! I had best pull a finger out and get 'er done!

That said, she is mostly finished now. The figure is finished, the base is done, the water is poured (although I am not entirely happy with it), the DKW has been painted and weathered, and all that remains to be done is to add a few small details and glue it all in place.

Robert - congrats once again on the Master. That looks awesome, mate.

Following my last post here and the realisation that we are rapidly running out of time in which to complete this Campaign, I have decided to shelve all other projects and focus on finishing up my mini blown bridgehead dio. I have had the house to myself all weekend and have used that time to add all of the finishing touches to this build and am now at the point where I can call her DONE!

So the basic premise is that this small dio represents an Obergefreiter of the 9th Panzer Recon Battalion (Wehrmacht 9th Panzer Division) at rest during a break in the fighting amidst the ruins of the village of Argentan in Northwest France in early 1944.

Thanks to Robert for proposing this campaign. I have had a lot of fun and learned a lot during this build. This campaign represents a number of firsts for me: this was the first campaign that I enlisted in (though not the first for me to complete), this was my first completed scratch-built dio (though not the first that I had started), this was my first time using PE parts, and also my first attempt at simulating water in scale.

As always, your thoughts/comments/suggestions are welcomed. I'd love to hear what you think of it now that it is done. Cheers.

So guys after some time I have found some time to do something on my project. The last weeks I was busy with some preparations for the little baby that is on its way. So i'm ready with the preparations and the baby should be born around January 10th 2014 so i have some time left to wait/ build


So the build is complete , all the bricks are made out of cork , the roof tiles are from Verlinden Productions , and the windows are made out of evergreen plastic.

I primed the building en give it some basic colours , except the windows. The bricks will be painted individually in brick red with some colour variations , Same fore the roof tiles.

Hey guys, as ever some epic work going on in here. Things have been at quite the stand still on my end these past months due to uni.

My Figures and Flakpanzer are complete but the base still needs colour and it will be quite a miracle if I find the time between now and the 20th to squeeze it in.

We shall see.

Great endresult. You made a very thoughtful dio with the guy reading while sitting on the edge of the bridge. Great scratchbuilding of the groundworks and all the loose details spread around make it even nicer. Congrats on finishing the postcard challenge.

Beautiful work mate on that building. The whole scene screams Dutch. Great brick work and all the other little details like windowframes and such are very realistic as well. I also like the girl standing in the window... Is that a Masterbox figure?

Thanks for the compliments and the congrats. I was extremely pleased with it becoming a kit. I am glad you enjoyed my little campaign. And as for finishing. You know there is Always life that interferes with the things like hobbies. Such is alas a definitive.

Well Uni is Always more important then the hobby. Hope everything went well there. Good to hear about the FLakpanzer and the figs being finished. Still 7 days to go. And tell me about a tight squeeze. I have a small gap and I have to try to push a truckload of work through it.

With one week left in this challenge I slowly come to the realisation that there is absolutely no chance that I'm going to finish my project. As is pointed out above live got in the way several times needing more attention. It did not help much that the dio itself got sold to become a kit. I am pretty honored with it but it meant I lost a lot of time I had planned and needed for my project. And now I'm faced with the situation that there are 7 days left and more then a month's worth of work to do. Something which is pretty impossible even if I work day and night on it. I will keep following the next 7 days and I will answer any post. SO far I have really enjoyed how everybody who signed up formed their ideas and it was nice to see how ideas took shape. In some cases completely changed. But those that have finished so far really did a great job in creating small diorama's under some set rules in the footprint size of a postcard and that is quite a good achievement. I hope that for those that have participated in this challenge I have created a situation in which people started to think differently about creating diorama's. So far it has been a blast running this campaign.

Great job guys for the enjoyable experience.

so guys,

A week later and the building is in it's basis colours. I gave the bricks a base coat of humbrol brick red , later I mixed some red/brownish colours in combination with humbrol brick red en gave some bricks a different colour. The gutter is painted white , the roof tiles are painted black/grey. Now its time to do some washing/ drybrushing.

Hello all.

Here I am with my completed entry. Had a time trying to upload it to the kitmaker gallery but I think my stubbornness won out.




I dropped the 2nd figure on suggestion because it seemed like they were sort of contradicting each other pose wise. I'm pretty happy with it, with the exception of my figure painting skills. I need to get a dead flat matte coat on the figure since he's just a little too shiny.

Very fun campaign, despite all the real life stuff that has gotten into the way of the hobby lately.

@ Everybody. As I already said. I knew I would have a hard time of coming even close to finishing but one thing I could never predict into my weirdest dreams was the death of my grandfather who passed away on December the 16th... 5,5 weeks after my grandmother passed away. Needless to say my head was not really at it to continue on this built aside from the fact that I needed to make the cards and all sorts of portraits for the ceremony that was held today. Everybody who finished I'd like to say another congratulations. You have all made very good diorama's that fitted with the rules and you have deserved that ribbon without doubt. I'm annoyed I did not finish in my own campaign but there were some factors that I never could have counted on. Some very nice and some very bad. I like the fact that everybody who so far actively participated have given good feedback and really enjoyed this little idea of mine. Maybe next year if you guys like the idea I will launch a part 2 but for now I am first going to clear my head a bit of all the bad happenings I encountered.

Sorry to hear/read about your grandparents Robert, that's really poor timing.

I'm curious though, what company bought your diorama? It looked great and the SBS was a nice addition, as I was wondering the same thing, and neither w I know!

Sorry to read about the losses in your family. It's a rough thing, especially around the Holidays.

As far as your diorama, in my mind you finished it. Add that you ran the campaign, I would not have any issue with you being awarded a campaign ribbon. In fact, I would strongly encourage you do so.
