Tom, Pat, Rob. Many thanks. For the final kneeling figure I'm going to see if I can convert his tunic also and change him to an NCO carring the MP40 rather than the 44. Should look nice wearing a crusher cap and give the group a bit more cohesion.
Next project of an M113 I've had partially built for years is starting along side these. Good to be enjoying the hobby again.

I agree about the placement of the gas mask canister strap. One thing you will probably find is that by late in the war most troops weren't carrying them any more anyway.
Regards
Rob
Yes,you seem to have the canister floating in air as there is no logic to the way the straps are.
By this stage of the war if they were worn they were used to carry schnapps bottles, etc.
I think it detracts from the outstanding job you are doing with the mods and detailing and wonderful painting, etc.

Which one do you mean J? Have attached one cannister and added new straps. I admit it should be hanging lower as it looks as if its stuck on top of the shovel. I cut the moulded straps but made the mistake of following the same lines with the metal ones. Next time I think I need to cut the moulded ones right back to the shoulder.

Yes,it is the guy with the canister riding high. It dosen't have a realistic"sit" on your figgie. They way the straps are on this canister,it would not "hang" that way. Hard to describe. Maybe google some German grunt pix and see what I am not suceeding at describing? There is a long strap and a short strap,IIRC? Just nit picking as you are proceeding brilliantly,

Hi Jay. Not nit picking, comments are always welcome. I know what you mean about the figure, knew it didn't look right but its glued in place. Puting this one down to experience and will work harder on the others to get the right placement. I should know exactly where it sits as I've been re-enacting for 7 years and actually own and wear all the gear these figures are carrying.
Like I say I realise its wrong but one of the points of this build was to see what worked for me and what didn't. This is the first build in nearly 20 years and its a chance to try the new techniques I've read about online. Will see how the next cannisters go on the next figures.

Well, for taking such a long hiatus you sure are doing mighty fine! I just got back into armor models a little while ago but I had no time away from the hobbies as I had a resin model airplane company.

If I'm being honest despite not building anything for that time I did run my own China & Ceramic restoration business. Every day was spent glueing, filling, sculpting and painting so I shouldn't be too shaby with a brush. The only problem was after doing those things for 8 or more hours a day the last thing I felt like doing was comeing home and starting all over again. Now I've had a career change its nice to go back to a hobby I enjoyed so much.

Yes,I agree. I now get to build and paint and finish stuff after all those years. When I had the biz I only had time for making master patterns and casting copies.
