After a gap of nearly 20 years decided to get back into military modelling. Going to create a small scene using 2 sets of Dragon figures and a corner ruin. So far not going too bad.

Not sure how to upload pics direct to the topic. Will have to try and sort out to show more recent pics.

Early days. These are 2 of the figures from the Volkssturm kit. Won't be using the other 2. The other 4 figures from the second kit might all be included but will be converting the tunics on a couple of them.

Figure number 5. Converted the M44 to an M43 tunic. First time at such a job and results are OK.

THanks Clemens. Looking at the pic I should have tried to add a bit more detail to the bottom of the tunic. Maybe more creases in the pockets and a seam line. Thinking about doing the same to the kneeling down figure but that may prove more difficult. Hoping to get some paint time in tomorrow. Got to get the Panzerfaust painted and decals added so I can position the arms.

Bugger. Just looking back through another topic I've realised I've put the loop of the bread bag on the wrong side of the Y straps. Aaaaaargh. And this from a guy who wears the damn stuff. Won't be changing it on these but something to remember for the next set of figures.

I may be getting ahead of you but are you planning to put gas mask canisters on the last 2 figs? If so,fine. But if not then you have to loose the diagonal straps on their front side. Just sayin.
Nice conversion jobs and you did very well on getting all of the kit to conform to the figs and portray the weight of the equipment.

Jerry I had the gas cannister later as I remove the moulded strap and add my own. The moulded strap is often in the wrong place to let the cannister sit where it should. Fieldgear needed a little work to make it sit right but was generally OK
Darren unfortunatly the Enigma is nothing to do with me. I can only wish.

The figures look beautiful. Thank you for the post. A little late, but I'll follow along. What brand of paint do you use?

Matt many thanks. Glad to have you along. At the moment I'm using a mix of Vallejo and Games Workshop Acrylics. Going to try oils for the faces.
James, thanks for the comment. Nice to get back to a military subject after nearly 20 years. Will probably do more on Monday as its kids football in the moring and another dull 2-10 shift on the afternoon.

Excellent work Chris I really like the worn paint effect on the details like the bayonets and the mess tins

Chris
I agree about the placement of the gas mask canister strap. One thing you will probably find is that by late in the war most troops weren't carrying them any more anyway.
Regards
Rob
