HI Folks..
Well enough of that. Has anybody built the MLRS from Dragon I saw one yesterday while getting my M60 Blazer kit and told him to hold it for me. If it ain't nogood then will tell him to put it back up on the shelve. How accurate ,does it need tracks, etc..
Thanks
Jeff

I just obtained one through an online trade a few weeks ago. It looks to be a decent kit with the older style Bradley FV tracks, and not the updated "big foot" tracks. I do not have any experience with actually MLRSs so I do not know what any accuracy problems are. The tracks are individual, replacing them will be difficult. I do not believe anyone makes the updated tracks and the only other individual tracks for the M2/3/LVTP7 are the OOP Academy set.

The kit I have is the M270 MLRS w/M26 Rocket Pods (#3523), I have been told that the German MARS version (#3522) does not come with pods and that it contains the German style tracks.

Interesting kit that will look great in any modern armor setting.

The kit with the rocket pods is the way to go. There is also a kit out without the pods so the interior of the launcher box is essentially empty...doesn't look very good if you pose it in firing mode. There are also some new vehicles based on the MLRS chassis that could be built. I have an empty one I'm gonna turn into an M4 C2V.

I also have the kit, but have not built it. The tracks in my particular kit are going to need a bit of work. There are inection marks (I think thats what they are) on almost ever single track pad. The kit has a ton of parts also, it is the heaviest kit I have, I believe there are 14 different trees. I am happy I got it. After the track work is done it looks like it will be fun to build. It also has options on how you want the missles and I always like that in a kit. I saw a review of the kit done somewhere and if I remember right I found it from a link from this site so you may want to dig through old posts and see what you come up with.

I've built it and I took some pictures of mine. It won a silver at the last Supercon here in the Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex. I'll post the pictures.
There is an AWSOME detail set from Royal Models for the "STEEL RAIN" (Iraqi's called it this during Desort Storm.) It has replacement seats, the orange airduct work, NBC hoses, and lots more. If you can get it, the Royal's kit is 100% better than the Eduards photo etch set.

I just ordered the Eduard MLRS set from Squadron.com. It was one of the items on their "comsale" (type comsale in the search field). They put some really good items up here. I usually check them every other day narrowing the search to "1/35" scale and "comsale". I usually get 2-3 pages of stuff with great prices.

The price listed last week was $4.99.

Has anyone else bid on the kit yet?
If no one else here's trying to get the kit... I'll try to win it. Just thought I'd ask. I'd hate to see a thread up here that says "I hate those idiots on eBay who wait till the last second to outbid!!!" and then my thread below it "Guess what I won off eBay!"

How much is it going for Yoda? I know someone who has one for sale on Hyperscale, Ron Byerly, we just completed a trade. His is going for $13:

Thu Jun 6 08:39:07 2002
Shipping not included in price. Priority mail cost is $4-5.
Armor 1/35
DML M270 MLRS $13
[email protected]

$17-18 delivered is not a bad price for the kit, especially since the eBay kit is over $25 + $5.60 shipping.

Whoa... price jumped 10 bucks since I posted the link. That's one of the things I don't like about eBay! I prefer to wait till late insted of pushing up the price later.
Can you give me a link to the one on Hyperscale, Rob? Thanks!
On a semi-related note, I was at KitHobbyist.com the other day... and saw that you won a 1/16th Tiger I in thier last contest. Why does that not surprise me? LOL

An online modeling forum, although it leans towards aircraft, it has an armor "Tank Talk". Cookie Sewell, one of the premier armor modelers, usually posts his kit reviews there, and on RMS. The address is www.hyperscale.com. They also have a "Plane Trading" forum that is a buy, sell, trade, looking for, etc. list like ours. Tanks trades/sales are also posted there. I've done a lot of trading to get rid of my aircraft for armor kits and have made quite a few good deals.

Incidently, our first troll (who was subsequently banned), endeared himself to that site next and they not only banned him, they had to change the network on which the forum was hosted to keep him away.
