Welcome all,

Ok 1st campaign I've taken lead on so here it goes, if I miss anything just say.

The idea is to do a build on a figure, unit or diorama that was involved in one of the many horrors of our world. The ideas that have been thrown about include vehicles that attended the tragedy, defining moments of the tragedy (best one I've heard is the final charge from the passengers and crew on the cockpit of the 11/7 plane that never made its target). What's important to remember that we are not glorifying what these people done, we are remembering and respecting those who risked and in some cases gave their lives for others. So, as for rules, the 1st is to try and put a 'label' on a tragedy, for me this isn't possible, what is horrific to me, may not be to others, so im going to say that if your idea can be backed by a story or even a news report, then that's good enough, of course most tragedies are sadly well known. Scale? Well I think it would be too limited to stick to one scale so that door is wide open, same with the choice of vehicle, be it land sea or air. Time scale? Well I'll let those who wish to run with this shout that. Due to the subject I've checked Ebay and that gave a few options but I feel this is going to be a scratch building campaign, or heavy kit bashing. If i have missed anything just say guys, and for a last note, this is just a idea, i do not wish to be dragged into any political a rows, nor do i wish to offend anyone with this, i just saw a chance to do something abit different.

Bronzey,
the chatter on the "Boston SWAT MRAP?!" thread seems to have missed this proposal, so I'm bumping it now. I agree, this can develop into a cool campaign if we focus on the heroes in bad situations.

Maybe open it up to emergency responders in general so people that don't want to depict a specific event can do something for firefighters, law enforcement, etc.

Yes, well I got the feeling this was a campaign that people was interested in, it deffo gives a chance to build something different from the standard 'out of the box' but it seems I got it wrong, well im still thinking bout doing my own build on this subject lol

Alex its funny that, i stumbled on a few sets in 1/72 scale of modern firefighters on eBay, their was 3 or 4 different sets to choose from and if i remember rightly they was themed on like a road traffic accident.

MAYBE...

Change the title of the proposal?

I think using the words "heroes" and "tragedy" are a bit much for some, try something along the lines of what we are actually going to build?

How about like 'Civilian Responders' or 'Military Police Vehicles'?

Ok I've had a think about this and yes I feel the title was right for the first thought but I feel its not working now, so I will redo a thread shortly, this was meant to respect those 'unsung heroes' of our world, to them its just another day at work but to us, its a amazing feat, so im thinking medic's, police etc, military or not, those who tend to go above the call of duty as they would say.

Yup I'd go with "Emergency And First Responders" or something like that and include Military Police. It's getting (too) common to see the amount of military equipment even small police forces are wielding. Armored cars and even M113s.

I figure most enlistees would do something along the lines of SWAT. I am looking at maybe some sort of Bomb Squad using a Maxi Ambulance as a Bomb Squad vehicle along with Academy's EoD robot. Could be cool to see a Game Warden (DNR) maybe in a truck or river patrol. And I have to admit, a line of riot police would look pretty sweat.

Alex

I have the EOD bot you speak of, its a cute little kit, I did plan on using it on another campaign but changed the bot for a IED suited guy.
Riot police? That sounds cool, like 10-15 in a line with shields I front, or maybe a riot van, just got a 1/32 scale ford tranist diecast model for the other campaign, would love to scratchbuild it to a riot van!
