First.
I'll probably do the bomb squad thing. Or maybe some sort of chem/bio-hazard response team. I've got some stuff gathering dust that could be used.

I'm signed up! Now to start digging around for a subject-- probably a truck like Brian posted above, but who knows, by the time I begin building.

Just signed up. Will be converting a 1/32 Tamiya landcruiser into a police tactical vehicle with 1/35 operators. Hopefully not too ambitious

I picked up a 1/32 Revell Fire Engine the other week. It's a snap-together kit but I think I can play with it some. I've got an idea of using it as part of a scene. Maybe some firefighters, police keeping the looky-loos at a safe distance, the news media, etc. I doubt I'll do any hazmat subjects but I still might add the bomb squad elements.
I'm playing with a new approach to dioramas. I think this'll be a good place to test it to see how it works and maybe tweak it.

Starter pictures. I'll be kicking it off with Revell's Snap-Tite Mack Fire Engine. I'm going to try to spruce it up a bit and I hope it will be just part of what I hope to put out. Police, spectators, bomb squad, news media, etc. I'm hoping to serve up a slice of a situation where these services respond.

I guess I should update. The Mack fire-truck is a pretty basic kit...it's a snap-tite. It's an 80s era kit. The detail isn't that bad. Kind of weird what they chose to mold on compared to what they molded separately. I'd love to see someone like Meng come out with a modern firetruck or even an ambulance (cough...cough...Ford Transit).
First up...de-chroming. I'm doing these in small bunches because I'm planning on using a few of the better looking pieces. Anyway, I used Windex. I prefer to use it over oven cleaner. That stuff plays havoc on my sinuses.
So while those soak, it's pre-paint time. I shot a couple of coats of black on the chassis. The red plastic really likes to show through. It looks like a it's going to need a solid primer job. I'm going with yellow for my fire truck so I decided to primer it with gray.
I'm did a test on the cab interior to see how the primer covered the red. It took a few coats.
So I then primered the whole thing.
While I let the primer dry, I decided to start on the suspension. It's very basic. And I did cement them in place. I'll go back later and pick out some of the detail.
Painting the base yellow is the main hurdle in this kit. I masked off sections that I didn't want yellow and shot the paint. In the picture, it looks odd. I think it's the black background. In person, it's yellow. It's in the back room drying.

Once that has dried proper, I should be able to move ahead with the construction. I've got figures put aside for conversion for firemen. As mentioned, the firetruck is just part of what I hope to do.

A quick update while I can. The firetruck is coming together nicely. I decided to keep some of the kit's chrome. But I did remove most of it and replaced with aluminum.
Better picture, showing it's yellow instead of green.
Cab. Painted the window edges black to represent gasket and trim. Notice mix of chrome and aluminum.
More de-chromed pieces. I primed everything. The kit's red plastic was tough to cover.
I went ahead and painted the running boards and rear step/bumper silver.
Basically done. I still need to touch up pieces and add the markings, etc. I placed it on my base for my EOD 2 entry for size reference.
Anyway, it was a pretty straightforward build. The kit has a lot of room for added detail. Kind of odd they simplify so much of it, yet expect you to do some fine painting.
That's it for now. Next I'll shift over to another rvehicle. This will be a Humvee converted to fire fighting use.

Before I start conversions, I wanted to get these three okayed.
My Humvee truck from EOD2. The plan is to make a Humvee based fire truck (brush truck) out of it.
Academy's Maxi-Ambulance. It was originally to be used as a variety of roles. I was thinking about making it into a bomb squad vehicle or into a SWAT vehicle.
Italeri's old Commando Humvee. It was built as a Federal Zombie Response Vehicle. I was thinking about converting it into a SWAt carrier.

My god I forgot all about this!!!
Ok well even though I was planning on doing the same idea of a bomb squad truck using the maxi ambulance that's not a problem Alex, im sure I can learn from you lol as for recycling your End Of Days builds, that's no problem too, seems pointless starting another kit if you have everything you need there. Look forward to seeing your work Alex, the fire engine is looking really good.

Thanks Bronzey.
Doing the bomb squad vehicles depends on me getting an IED robot and probably the Black Dog IED bomb tech figs. The Maxi-amulance might be a Swat vehicle or some sort of communications truck. I'm kind of keeping my options open and taking it one vehicle at a time...starting with the fire humvee. I probably should have waited on the Mack truck. As is, it might not even come into play.

Well I ran in to some issues with the planned brush truck. I'm wondering if a UAV in Sheriff or FBI use would be acceptable. I've got the Academy UAV kit and could convert the Maxi-Ambulance in to a mobile control vehicle.
