Hi,

This is the AEF conversion for the IDF Puma-Ram ARV that I just started.
The quality and fit of this conversion is not to good, the upperhull is about 4mm to short so you cant see in the pictures and there must some parts rebuild.

Lucky I was warnd about the AEF quality :-)

Interesting looking vehicle. What is the base vehicle? A Canadian Ram? I've been debating on whether or not to buy a halftrack conversion from AEF Designs or not.

Looks great! Still can't get over how much the IDF Puma-Ram ARV looks like the SADF Centurion ARV I was crew on. What is the rating on the crane? (Our's was 2.5 tons fully extended)

Which tracks were you going to put on? Centurion Steel track (hopefully) or 'Hush Puppies', it seems that some of the Pumas are running around on Merkava tracks (Shiryon?).

Well anyway NEAT! :-) :-) :-)

Savage,
I have a Centurion ARV in the closet for a later project, do you have some pic`s to share ;-)
But know back to the Puma-Ram ARV
I wish I could tel you more about this vehicle but I cant
And now you mentiond the looks of this ARV with the Centurion ARV hmmm youre right about that its looks almost the same at this stage.
The tracks I use are the steel ones from the Tamiya kit (Centurion)
Its have the Merkava suspension, and maybe there are vehicles thats has the Merkava wheels and tracks also but I doint have seen any pictures of it
I have asked on the IDF-Armour forum for more info of this beast but not much respons, only that it is a new vehicle and a litle camera shy??????????????

Rob, The base is from Tamiya`s Centurion.
And the quality from AEF is not so good, you must put a lot of work on it and replaced some parts

Certainly is an interesting kit. Too bad about the quality. I have been considering buying one of their kits as well but tlaes of woe are quite common. I guess the problem is resin shrinkage. How about warping and bubbles?

SAVAGE, RONALD,
FYI. This vehicle is the brainchild of the IDF's great ability to take outdated equipment and put it to the GREATEST of use.
The APC in question is as follows.
#1 It started life as a Centurian Mk5
#2 It is powered by the same engine thats in the M60 an AVDS 1790-2A (notice the resemblence on the engine decking?) the same trans as well
#3 This vehicle and all other centurian/patton hybrids can use the current suspensio and wheels from the Merkava family and track
#4 The air filters are the side loading type from the M60
#5 all Centurians can/and have been updated w/ M60 type headlights, NBC systems
there are great pics of this and many other Cent based APC's/ Tanks in the Book from
MOUSE HOUSE ENTERPRISES on IDF CENTURIAN BASED VEHICLES
check it out its pretty cool.
Or you could always ask SHIRYON he has a great website of the IDF

Ronald,
You are deeply welcome. I've always liked AEF's stuff, they do a lot of IDF equipment that you cant get any other place.
I'm curious.........Does AEF list this as an ARV or APC?

ROTORHEAD67, thats is the only reason why I buy producs from this compagnie, for the rare conversions of fitters
And the Puma-Ram is listed as ARV, the model is stil missing the crane on the back.

SABOT,
Yep me TOO. But now there is no such MOS in THIS ARMY. they are all 12B w/ an additional skill. And to make matters worse, The M728 got DAS BOOT. cant keep up with the
NEW COMBAT BRIGADE plan in place. Now the same mission is performed by the M9 ace,The M88A2 Hercules, and the (still in FSD M1 Based Grizzly) My only question is this!!!
HOW THE HELL ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BLOW UP obstacles now, and who's BRAINY
idea was it to replace one piece of Equipment w/ three. MY TAX $$$ @ work. LOL
Oh and another thing: Thru the Forums I find we have another Trait in common
FT DEVONS. LOL Mighty small world ain't it? LOL

Too bad they haven't heard about pressure casting. HKCW, MLM, ABM and other such manufacturers don't have the same problem.

Hi Paul,
Yes thats the problem with that guy I think.
If he did that his producs are 100 per cent better then now
But we must live with it when we will made such vehicles as this one

all,
Yes I do agree ........pressure casting does make a differance. HELL I dont have high end equipment myself, and my pressure casting is primative, but its worth the time it took to build my system., I use my compressor and a pressure box made from pine.
It works fine for me.

I wouldn't mind seeing a photo of your pressure casting rig. By the way, you think the US Army Cbt Engineers have problems, we are losing our AEVs and AVLBs because of the dumb decsion to get rid of our Leopards in favour of the Stryker MGS.
