And just in the nick of time. . .

I still can't believe that I'm finally going to get a kit of my most wanted Soviet AFV (seriously, my other one was the IS-3 and Tamiya scratched that itch years ago). It is a good time to be a Soviet tank modeller.

Has anyone heard when this kit is coming out? I'm beginning to think it will be soon, as Navigator IS-4 kits have started to show up on eBay. . .

No idea but i literally can not wait anymore for this. Waiting for half a year and checking the trumpeter facebook on daily basis to see if they got any news with it lol. Seems like they have to release 15 variatons of BVRs and T72s first
Even bought an IS-3 from Tamyia just today to get a little training before i lay my hands on this beauty hehe

Quoted TextHeh, my only World of Tanks Tier 10 tank. I might get one just because of that...
I call pro-rooskie bias. that model should have the hell nerfed outta it
I don't concern myself with "if, and, or but never-made-it into production" or German paper tanks. An up-to-date WWII US M3 Medium Lee/Grant, please... And don't shove that marginal ACADEMY kit down my throat again... Please...

This is no paper tank. There were around 200 pieces of it built and it served in the soviet army in the early cold war era.

Now that they have corrected the suspension brackets, what exactly makes this model "marginal"?

By "Marginal", I mean that the ACADEMY M3-series kits could be better when compared to the latest kits from other manufacturers on the market today. Why is it that when the kit manufacturers release a US or Allied vehicle with deficiencies, it takes them forever to "correct" or replace parts, if at all? DRAGON, on the other hand, will go ahead and release umpteen kits of the same basic subject with only a few parts that have been changed or replaced. Witness their other Tiger Is, Pz.IIIs, Sd.Kfz.10s, etc...
Granted, this new rendition of the Tiger I contains major parts that have been re-tooled with "Zimmerit". This feature will be a boon for modellers who want to save time and effort by not having to model their own Zimmerit. I may go out and buy this new Mid-Production Tiger I with Zimmerit, myself. Then, maybe not...
Now as to the ACADEMY M3 Lee/Grant kits- They're OK, but they could be great...
We could use a few more "interior" parts, for those modellers who like to show every door and hatch "open". The M3 Medium just so happens to be one of those kits that begs for an interior because the hatches and those big side-doors allow for much of the interior to be seen.
Better tracks- When assembled, the vinyl tracks are loose, as would be seen on many German WWII tanks, the Tiger I being an excellent example of this trait. The M3 Mediums' tracks were required to be adjusted as tight as possible, without binding any of the road-wheels, sprockets or idler wheels. But a lot of us wind up buying after-market tracks, even to replace DRAGON's vaunted "Magic Tracks".
Overall, the details on ACADEMY's M3-series kits are a little bit "soft", and could benefit greatly by some more tweaking. I doubt that ACADEMY would go to such lengths as to re-tool these kits, even though they DID replace the incorrect "bogies".
I like to replace the great majority of my main gun and machine gun barrels with multi-piece aftermarket upgrades on my AFVs and softkins, so I'm not going elaborate on that. I've probably missed a few items that need work in correcting or replacing them, so I'll leave it at that.
Again, the ACADEMY M3 Lee/Grant kits are OK, but that's it. I know that DRAGON or some of the other kit manufacturers could do a better job...

Absolutely nothing!!! Not to argue, but some of us like to model military AND civilian subjects encompassing ALL eras... I would like to say that the IS-4 is VERY WELCOME, and that I should have made that comment in the first place...

Once again, Dennis, I may be a bit over-sensitive about the original treads topics, but don't want to start a war about this
I have my own -and long- want/wish-list of stuff I'll prefer far before an IS-4, and had to bite my finger tips not to start a rant here...
Anyway, an IS-4 might be the first release of an entire IS family -I really hope so-

"Hi Michal: keep patient and you will see it soon. We need to fix some little errors which our Russian Friend pointed out."

AGREE with you 110%!!! The IS-4 will be a very welcome addition in many modellers' collections! Have you seen the new MBT-70 that will be coming from DRAGON yet?

Looks like it's quite ready to go! And looking at the cat number, its very to close to Object 704 cat number which is out due march (dont know if the catalogue number matters that much though xD )
i think i will built myself a non-modernised version. Not that much differences as far as i know, shouldnt be too difficult

The IS-4 was announced as coming out in April. I would guess it will show up July or August...
