Can anyone help with some picture's that show an M2 Bradley ( Old Tamiya 35132 kit)in a Camo scheme other than Desert or the Merdc scheme. I'd like to paint something different.
Not having much luck searching.

The original M2A0 (Tamiya's M2) wasn't in service very long and was right before the time the 3-tone NATO camo was starting to come into use.

Other than the MERDC and Desert schemes, they were also seen in overall Dark Green and a few in 3-tone NATO camo.

The Bradley came from the factory in Forest Green (34079) and ready for the unit to paint it in MERDC... Later when standardized, They were painted NATO 3 color at the factory.


Don't underrate the MERDC creativeness..

you can go with RED DESERT... (Earth Yellow and Earth Red)



Or an old favorite for a change of pace is
The WINTER camo with White as the second primary color.



And another of my favorites is GREY Desert (Earth Yellow and Field Drab)

If you can turn your M2 into a M3A1, then you can paint it like this one :

Have done an M113 in the Winter scheme so after something different, might go with the Red Desert style that looks interesting.

AFAIK the Cadillac-Gage T50 turret is not used by the US Army (on the M113 at least )

Nice pattern though.
I was hoping I could use the Duel Tex camo that was field tested in Germany I think. Cant find a Pic of a Bradley in the scheme.

Dua Tex - Bradley came after that trial. That was 2 armored cav , but there might have been a trial vehicle? Done lots of research on the dual tex and no Bradley pics - you could do one though. They just used the MERDC scheme and converted it by eyeball. Four inch squares. Give it a try! Thatdbe cool.

Even though the red desert pic was a New Zealand vehicle, it's the proper MERDC pattern and colors. I've got an actual real life M151 in those colors and is always a show stopper. Kinda pretty!

I remember having seen pics of an early Brad with an unsual camo made of green base and some large Xs sprayed in a dark color. I'm sure I have a picture in an old book. Give me a couple of days and I'll have it back.

Here is the picture I found back in an old Verlinden Warmachines book. The vehicle is a M3 and the book does not give any explanation about this camo.



It looks like the basic colors of the MERDC camo have been applied in the usual scheme.

That's temperate MERDAC pattern for jungle/ rainforest environments.

There was an M1 painted in the same manner. Looked pretty, but didn't seem to be used much - just a demo thing probably.

Jim,
on your pictures the M1 and the M2 sport a standard MERDC scheme.
The M3 in the Verlinden book doesn't have the sand patches at all.
I think you're right about it being just some temporary or demo thing.

Yep, and now that the photos are together I see the green is a different hue too, not so bright!

That's the summer scheme, it's field green and light green - it's a pretty bright green and back in the day I used to see some guard vehicles painted in this scheme, most common was the forest and field drab (green and brown) we see most often.

For some reason in the beginning of the MERDC era a lot of units in Germany skipped the third light color that was supposed to be the color of the local dirt - usually we see sand used in the highlight color.

Those pictures were taken at Ft Knox, with the M1/Bradley picture being taken sometime before 1986 in the Twin Bridges area, west of post. The Bradley CFV picture from Verlinden Bradley Warmachines was taken in 1988 during a visit to Ft Knox by Mr Verlinden which was the basis of his Warmachine series, which include the M60A3 and I believe the M1.

The camo scheme was a modified (3 color) Summer version of MERDC used the during mid to late 80's. The colors that we used were Dark Green, Light Green & Black, most often applied to the vehicles in the motorpool, every 18 months or so... The vehicles in 5-12 Cav were either painted in the MERDC (M3/M3A1 CFVs, M113s, XM1/M1/M1IPs, and M60A1/M60A3s) or NATO (M1A1s) schemes at the time.
