Two versions of the M113 family that would be nice to see are the M125A1 81mm Mortar carrier (never been done) and the M113 TOW Cap .

The TOW Cap has never been completely done. Both Hobby Fan and Azimut put out conversions, but neither was totally accurate. The Hobby fan version comes the closest, but does not have the "Cap".

Thanks for your efforts to provide your conversions for the M113 family. They have been needed for a long time.

The Australian variant with a winch in David's post is a M806AS4.

AFAIK the US Army tested the M806 but didn't adopt it :

And what about some European versions of the M577, like this one:

How about an engine compartment and accurate cab interior for the M548?

I do know of one Army using them.

The winch in the photo seems to be smaller though.

The M577 test shots looks great.

What are you planning with the M106? Fixing the turntable bits so the mortar isn't in the travel position?

I'd love to see a correct size drivers hatch with the IR periscope mount plate that swivels, thumbscrew lock, etc.

I am amazed at the interest in the M113 Family and judging from the suggestions, it's a wonder that no other company has picked up on these. Well Guys, looks like I have my work cut out for me.
After I get the M577, M1059 and M113 improvements rolling, then I'll start picking-off the rest one by one.
The M106 set will be done as accurately as possible and can be modeled in both firing and travelling positions. I have enough info available to do the M125 with one problem, I don't know how wide the ammo stowage racks on the left side are.
As with all the current conversions, I'll do the "basic" sets right now to make them available. "Specialized" versions will come down the line.
I didn't know that the current M113 kit's Driver's hatchways were the wrong size. What are they supposed to be?

M806 1/35 conversions have been done by Mapple Leaf Models (very nice albeit pricey and next to impossible to find nowadays) and Mouse House I think (less elaborate but cheaper), both OOP it seems.

Cheers,

I have a couple drawings from an Army TM on the M806, it's just details that are missing.

Hi Bob

Maybe you could "guesstimate" that ?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/gorillagan/3449780500/sizes/o/in/set-72157616815866721/

(from this Flickr album showing an Australian "Mortar Track" )

Judging by the picture above, the rack is snugly fitted between the battery box/radio rack and the fuel cell. Just keep in mind that in case your using Academy's fuel cell (M113A1 cell) for reference, you'll have to reduce its length (see this thread on ML)...

Thanks Frenchy, nice album there and really helpful. It's the width of the stowage racks on the other side that have me baffled. They look about the same width as the M106 but 81mm Ammo tubes are smaller if I remember right.

Let me know if you need any M106(A2) pictures. The sight box would be a good addition and I think the extension in the kit is wrong as well. One think I don't have a good picture of but I know is there is a bracket on the front edge of the fuel tank that is for securing the rounds in the ready rack.

I don't know what the true dimensions of the hatch are but the outside should be the same outer diameter as the hole that it's covering and it's not on either Academy or Tamiya and neither one got the IR periscope guard and plug (?) right. And the top edge is beveled.

Grenade box and IR periscope are a few of the items missing from the driver's area.

It would be nice if there was a kit for Basic Issue Items like the tool bag, oil filler thing with the not so nice nickname, etc.

This would explain the noticable difference

Another "guesstimation" ?

I know about the TOW and M901 but what's a TOW CAP Dave? Do you mean the M981 FIST-V?

The Genade Box and IR Periscope were basically what led to the M577 interior side being reworked alittle.
What's a Sight Box on the M106? Inquiring minds would like to know, especially when they don't want to miss an important detail with the Masters.

I've seen that before somewhere and wanted to build it, just never had any measurements for the protective hood.

Wouldn't be hard to do a basic Bundeswehr M113, a set of Leo I Headlights and smoke Dischargers, some wire and templates for bending the wire for headlight guards if I remember correctly. They used to have quite a few interesting M113 variants light the Green Archer.
