Well guys (and gals), planning out my Summer/Fall releases as the M577 and basic M113 upgrades are just about ready for release. I'm thinking along the lines of a full Nam-era anti-mine armor package for one set. Anyone else looking for certain M113 items out there? Let me know-

How about some pieces for the IDF Fitter or M163 Vulcan SPAAG?

An M577 would be very welcome. I've been looking at the Tamiya kit as a kitbash basis for the Academy kit. A conversion set would save me the trouble...

How about the early "Okinawa" .50 cal gun shields used by the 25th Inf.

Matt-
What kind of Vulcan pieces did you mean? Something to upgrade or improve the Academy kit?

50 cal. Gun Shield? Any photos?

The M577 conversions will be available this coming Wednesday. I'll be posting pics of some of the main parts on Monday afternoon. One set is for the Tamiya, the other a full conversion for the Academy kits. The rear shelter section is also roughed-out, just have to detail it and it'll be in the molds.

An interior would be nice. So would an engine deck, for the Vietnam version.

Roger That Sherb, might have something to work with there. Was there an armor plate covering the back of the shield? Looks like it in a way.

That would be nice. It is the same kit as in the M113 ambulance as well, only with shorter poles and chains since it only holds 4 litters as opposed to 6 in the M577 ambulance.

M113 Ambulance

Here is one I did a while ago.

You could also do an M113A3/M577A3 interior conversion. They have steering yokes as opposed to laterals, a brake pedal, and sliding kevlar blast panels in the rear.

The M113A3/M577A3 Driver's Station is already underway and will appear in July.
Now to find an ample supply of fine scale chain for the Ambulance versions. Thanks for the photos Guys, they're really useful!

Bob,

Try some model railroad chain.

It comes in different sizes and LPI (links per inch).

I buy fine chain from Michaels' jewelry department. You get something like a foot of chain, for two dollars. They carry various LPI.

As a matter of fact I was at Michaels about an hour ago. The chain they had available was not the right link type and too thick. Might try the other Michaels in Harrisburg or Hobby Lobby. Definitely hit the Model Railroad supply places (Walthers?).

The ADATS is something I'll keep in mind. Heck, it's an M113!

Thanks Dave. As soon as I can find someone that sells it in spools, we'll be all set.

Ohh, I know, a RATT Rig 577 from 1985 time frame, all the teletypes, radios, ancient fax machines, that would be way cool!

RATT Rig? That's a new one on me. I was thinking about a fully equipped one but there are probably endless combinations for the 577. I remember seeing quite a few myself even in the same unit.

Alaska? Remember it well, especially the National Guard. The Eskimo Guys were a riot when they were juiced-up. And the nicest folks you'd want to meet when sober. Still remember when one of them sunk an M113!

"Radio Teletype" Rig, I think it was the S3 who operated it, hard to remember but I'm pretty sure it was part of the TOC, Tactital Operations Center, we had so many fraaking 577's it's hard to remember who was using them all, S1, S2, S3, S4, Commo, Medics, FDC, etc.

Yeah, Alaska, it's still the same as you remember it, I'm about to retire after 20 years of law enforcement, can't wait to get out of here!

I know how that goes, did my time and was glad to be back in the lower 48!
