Hi,
I just have the Academy Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer kit and I'd like to build it but I have some questions first:
1. The Hetzers were used by the Artillery division right? (I'm asking because I'd need to know what color I should use to paint the uniforms of the crew)
2. The kit comes with no markings for the vehicle (besides some crosses), is that ok? Or is that Academy didn't include them? If some marking should be mandatory, would you mind to tell me any feasible one for the type of camouflage suggested by Academy?
Thanks!

The Hetzer was a tank destroyer,2nd SS Panzer, 10th SS Panzer, 8th Panzer and a few more panzer units had them from May 1944.
So crews could wear the panzer uniform.
There is a few paint masks for the hetzer that make painting much easier https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/7456.
Bison decals have a nice decal set for late war with some very unusual colors and markings.

As to crew uniforms, they would be wearing the same panzer or StuG uniforms in the colors and camo particular to whichever unit you happen to be modeling. However, if you are planning to paint their Waffenfarbe (the colored piping on shoulder straps, collars, etc. which denotes service branch), or use Archer's details, the color for these guys should be red - for artillery (all SP A/T and StuG units were artillery), and not pink as for the Panzer units.

Ok, maybe I'm wrong but I have the idea that the Panzer uniforms were black and the Artillery uniforms were Feldgrau so, in addition to having different rivet colors (pink vs red) they also have different uniform color as well).
Is this correct or am I wrong? (please let me know, I'm in doubt now )

As a matter of fact this kit comes with precut painting masks to paint a nice three color camouflage so I plan to use that; what it doesn't come with is any numbering (the only decals are a couple of crosses), my original question was if these vehicles don't carry any numbers on their hulls; if yes, I'd like to know a feasible number to use for a vehicle with this schema (I know I'm asking too much, but I did my research before posting this question and haven't find any information so far )
Thanks!

You are correct. The uniforms for tank destroyer crews were a different color than the panzer crews.

Nominally Panzer uniforms were black and SP uniforms were Feldgrau, but by the time Hetzers were employed there was a general mixing of uniform items. A one-piece reed green coverall was also issued to both Panzer and SP crews. If you're talking SS, both Panzer and SP crews could be wearing the same camo coveralls, or Panzer suits. What was standard in 1939 was quite different by 1944 - 45. Go with whatever scheme you like.

I may have been unclear on this. What I meant was the uniform was similar in appearance, but the colors differed depending on Panzer, SP, or SS. (If you want to get picky, there was a difference between SS and Heer Panzer jackets, but not very obvious in 1/35)

Biggles 2 is correct in all his posts concerning this question. I have way more than just a few illustrated books pertaining to WW2 Uniforms, and Biggles 2's answers match what my books show. After fall/winter of 1941, a HUGE variety of German uniforms were in use, especially with the AFRIKA KORPS and on the Russian Front. You wore what was available; that even includes Allied clothing and civilian items such as sweaters, scarves, etc. The Jagdpanzer 38(t) "Hetzer" didn't appear until 1944, so you can decorate your figures in just about anything within reason. I wouldn't go with a pink "tu tu", though...
