This incident during the early part of the battle of the Bulge was a good excuse to build the fine Tasca Jumbo Sherman and to take on the challenge of depicting snow.
ANy comments welcome.

The snow turned out great! The footprints are something most builders would neglect. The figures are also very well done. I'm knowledgeable about Shermans to comment on the Jumbo. But, it looks as though you did and excellent job on it as well.

What is the scale? Scratch or not?
Anyway, first impression was very good. The snow looks superbe also. Nice touch with the stairs on the left side. I applaude you also from kkeping off the usual dark house colours.
On second thought I question the old man sitting. Wouldn't it be to cold?
Well done
Claude

This is in 1:35 scale and all the buildings are scratch built using 1/4" ply wood, textured with Hydrocal. You are probably right about the old man but I wanted him to reflect the local population and the incongruity of the armour in their little town.
Thanks for looking in

The figures are from the kits of German Civilians (Miniart) and US Tank Crew NW Europe (Miniart) right? Also the snow effect is amazing, especially the glaciers hanging down from the roof. Overall I think it is a great diorama, well done, cheers!

Forgot to ask about the snow product used ?
Being just challenged to paint some US figures again I recognize that your figures are just splendid and I will probably achieve only a fraction of this! Nice shadings !

The figures are indeed from Miniart, Masterbox and one Alpine and one Dragon.
The snow is made from Woodland Scenics snow mixed in Acrylic gel. There is also some baking powder and finally I add sparkles from a craft store to add some little reflections.

You certainly depicted the snow perfectly and your figures are amazing. Which kit does the tanker on the steps come from?
Cheers

Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments.
The tanker on the steps comes from the Miniart US tank crew NW Europe set.
I will dig up some more pics soon.

Here are the vehicles used in this dio. First the very nice Tasca Jumbo Sherman.
Then the Tamiya Willy's jeep with the ET models PE.
These are before final weathering of course.

If anyone is interested here is my SBS for building a 1:35 scale house.
The dio was based on this painting which I found of the town of La Roche.
So this is how the building at the right was constructed.
From a set of elevations I cut the basic wall sections from 1/4" plywood.
These are then assembled.
I use wood glue and little nails used for pinning rail track to a base board. Window and doors etc are added from wooden lolly sticks and glazed with food packing plastic.
I added the roof from simple cereal box card and then tiled it with card tiles.
Tiles were painted in various grey coloured acrylics and the gutters are added from thin aluminium pie tin bent into shape.
Finally the whole thing was painted with Acrylics and some pastel used for initial weathering.
If anyone has any questions or comments please let me know.
