I've got a few extra steel wheel sets that I would to model as battle damaged . Any one know of any pictures of broken or bent steel wheels ? I've found pictures of pairs of wheels on broken off axles and lots of early wheels with damaged rubber , but not what I'm looking for ...thks.

If you think about it, anything that would damage a heavy duty item like a T2 road wheel will 99% likely have broken its torsion bar arm as well. A crew would immediately move to get it replaced, no?
This reminds me of guys who show German AFV schurzen ripped to shreds and blown to bits (as if they've taken AP or even HE shots) -- yet their flimsy metal rod mounting arms are in pristine condition....
(of course, someone will now post a pic of a damaged roadwheel....)

I had to laugh at this Roy, ain't it almost always true?!
I don't have it handy, but there's a picture I believe in one of the Panzer Colors volumes with a tank that was knocked out by an AP round through a road wheel. The only damage to the wheel was a hole punched in it. I've seen other pictures here and there where chunks and sections of wheels were broken off, I'm assuming from the same type of round.

I could not tell you exactly where I saw them but I have seen pix of roadwheels that have chunks missing. They look something like a broken cookie. When a high velocity round hits something like this it tends to break off or have a hole punched in it. Even the thicker steel of the hull or turret.
Metal experts during the war said that the German tempered steel used in armor was quite brittle.
