Bruce (grayghost666) had wanted to start the next installment of his Blitzkrieg campaigns earlier this summer, but I have not yet heard back from him. He had asked me to be his XO when it started, and was to run from June through December of this year.
I have decided to proceed forward with his wishes for his next campaign, and am hoping that things are ok on his end.
These are quoted directly from Bruce, highlighting the parameters of Blitzkrieg 5:
"Hello Jeremy,
I am getting ready to start a thread for the next Blitzkrieg.
It will be Blitzkrieg 5: Normandy, Starting June 5, 2013 at midnight and run till December 31, 2013.
it will have the airborne landings, the Invasion and will stop at the closing of the Falaise Pocket on the 19 August 1944.
The next Blitz will have the pulling back of the German forces from France, Operation Dragon, A bridge to far, Paris, etc.
So what do you think."
"In April I am starting the next Blitz. It will be Normandy and will start June 5 and end December 31st.
It will cover the Airborne Landings of June 5 1944 to the end of the Falaise Pocket 19 August 1944.
How does that sound. It will have the para's, gliders, breaches, hedgerows, Cean, etc. All kinds of things to model." We will obviously not be starting on time, and for those familiar with his campaigns you will know that he likes to end them around the end of the calender year. We will not be starting until September at soonest, so the campaign will run for 6 months from that time carrying us over to March 2014.
I can hold this campaign back later if you wish, or we can proceed ahead slightly behind schedule.
Let me know what you guys think

Jeremy,
I was wondering what happened to Blitz 5, and I like you hope all is well with Bruce,
And even though the D-Day 2 campaign is currently running, I think Blitz 5 expands the bridgehead a bit

So to show are support for Bruce I say run it late for 6 months, I'm sure I can come up with a Tiger for this being that I'm doing a Pz IV for D-Day 2

Hi Jeremy,
I also haven't heard from Bruce for a while and sure hope he is ok.
I'd like to take part, if Ernst Barkmann's legendary single handed fight at "barkmanns corner" Saint-Lo counts. And I'll have to find a decent Panther A as well

Yup. Early M5a1s. They were in Normandy as early as D-Day with action at Dead Man's Corner with the 70th.
I plan on building "Carol".

There are a lot of documented photos of M5A1's in and around France just before and after Normandy. The 32nd and 33rd both had M5A1's in France during the summer of 1944.

This is one of C Company's M5A1's in Normandy (you can build this directly from AFV Club's 1/35 M5A1 kit)

That would be just too too COOL to be able to get all of that crap, and a TANK, too, from one little box!

I THINK that the Panzer I ausf C (VK601) served in the LVIII Panzer Korps in responding to the Normandy invasion.
I have that Hobby Boss kit and maybe this is the time to build it! IF this one fits, I would be IN!

I will sign up for this foray. Though there are several upcoming campaigns which I am involved in. If I get a chance to build and finish something great if not another successful try.

Bob: Indeed, that would be too cool

I will check on VK601 and see if I can find anything for you.
Trevor: We can't start anything officially until September as it is, so you have some time to work on other campaign projects before we get started.

Well you call me Number 10 I guess. I missed this post and just happened to see it a little bit ago. I have been in all of the Blitz campaigns and don't want to miss this one.
Here is what I plan on using for an entry.
Thanks,
Randy

There is another campaign D-Day which started in July seems a tad redundant to be running both so close together. Though I do appreciate the later start date. I am in with an old Tamyia StuG III ausf G with a Panzer Art mantelet and what ever else I can use to dress up this creation with.

Trevor,
The other campaign...D-Day Armor...is restricted to D-Day itself (give a day or two). This one offers a wider time and geographical range, so you have the entire Normandy Theater to draw upon.

Good to see you Randy, and I always liked that mortar setup

Alex is correct about the broader scope of this campaign. Bruce has always engineered his Blitz campaigns to cover a broader operational scope covering major chapters or turning points in the movement of both sides through WWII rather than focusing on specific operations.

Howdy Y'all:
I'm in. I'll probably drop another campaign to work on this one, I've signed up for too many. That's o.k. I need to anyway, our club will probably have a D-Day contest next year. This should work.
Take care,
