Rubber on stamped Sherman rear idler?

Heya, Folks,

I'm working on a father-son project with my kid: the good old Tamiya M4A3 Sherman (75mm).

Silly question: do the stamped rear idler wheels contain any rubber on them a la the stamped bogie wheels? I know I should probably know this, having been a modeling for over 30 years, but the memory just ain't what it used ta be...

They are metal with no rubber.

Darryl is correct. Although some older DML Sherman kit directions incorrectly have you painting a rubber wheel on the idler.

Only the 23-in HVSS idlers had rubber. Your Tamiya M4A3 should definitely be all steel.

How are you filling in the open side of the idler and for that matter the bogies?

Welcome to Armorama, Paul. Hopefully Johnny finished his father/son model a while back. He originally posted this question in Aug 2013. I would think adding that accuracy detail might not have been part of his plans.

But your post does bring up some of the inadequacies of some of the earlier Sherman models out there.
