Just saw an ad for this. Looks impressive. Sprue Bros has it for $45...twice the size of the Dragon offering for about the same money. Anyone seen one in person? Looks like it might be "based" on the Dragon kit.

I saw a built up one at the Atlanta AMPS International Convention. For $45, it looks like a steal!
Without looking at the sprue layout, I don't think one can say whether it was "based" on the DML kit. Heck, it could even be based off the 1975 Tamiya 8.8cm Flak 36 -- which wouldn't be a travesty either.
My guess is that it wasn't based off the DML kit. One of the big annoyances I had with that kit (which I generally love) is the blobs that came off the bogie fenders that were meant to be OVM tool holders. When I saw the Merit/JSI kit, I didn't notice this -- I think I would have recalled that error if it were so.

Thanks Roy! Think I'll go ahead and order it. I've been building several 88s recently (18, 36, 37, 41, Paks, etc.) and this would make an impressive centerpiece to the collection. Thinking it would look very good as a dedicated flak gun on a concrete base pointing up at the bomber stream.
Cheers!

These originally came assembled and pre-painted but since the company went belly up, Merit needs to be applauded in picking it up! They also make a 1/16 T34/85 and a Tiger I but they are assembled and painted too.
I bought my Flak Gun when it first came out and they were like $98.00 so a chance to build it AND save some money too.

I was working on the other side of Los Angeles today and on my way home, stopped at Burbank Hobbies. They had one in stock and I was able to look at the contents. Pretty good for $60 retail! Details looked sharp, instructions thorough, decals acceptable. I'll be ordering one shortly...
