Hi David,

Thank you for the clarification. I'll look for the reviews on these - I'm a fan of Italian armor.

Good to know. I'd be highly upset to pay Tamiya's price, and get Italeri's quality.

to be honest I personly feel the Italeri M13/14 and M40-75/18 were better detailed and nicer kits than the Tamiya and some of the sprues have been added to the Tamiya re releases

People have mistaken the Tamiya reboxed items often. I recall a few years ago, someone put up a Tamiya SdKfz 234/2 Puma German armored car (rebox of Italeri -- meant for domestic Japan market) onto an eBay listing. People went nuts and it sold for about $80.

They could have gone to their local hobby show and gotten one from a vendor for $12.

Caveat Emptor... (Let the Buyer Beware)

PS- You can get any DRAGON Sd.Kfz.234 variant on eBay for less than HALF the cost of this other trickery...

Buyer Beware is right!

I used to do a lot of transactions on eBay. The absolute craziest auction I ever saw was for a painted 1/35 MG 34 with ammo boxes. You know, the ones where most WW2 modelers probably have a dozen in their spares boxes.

The crazy thing about this listing was the seller did not exaggerate the item. There was a photo of the items. It was a simply painted MG 34 with bipod and some painted ammo boxes.

I can't imagine what the top bidders thought they were getting! My guess is that the bidders did not understand what "1/35" meant.

The item was eventually sold for $35!!! I would have loved to have seen the face of the winning bidder when a small 35mm film canister arrived with his Machine gun packed inside! LOL

There is a saying among some disreputable automobile dealers: "There's an ass for every seat"... I guess that can be applied anything in today's world...

Think I'll pop over to eBay and buy an "AH-OOGAH" horn- I need a new doorbell...

Have you seen TAMIYA's latest scam? They're re-packaging older kits with ABER PE sets and demanding retail prices that are 2 to 3 times as much as the cost of the same items without the extra PE- This is RED-HOT GOSPEL TRUTH! Check it out on evilBay...

Guess what I'm not going to buy..?

Off-Topic: Does anyone out there know anything about an ICM kit# 35537 1/35 MB Typ 320 (W142) Saloon? A while back I saw some "box art" of this thing from ICM, but haven't seen hide nor hair of it since...

Some of ITALERI's stuff is actually pretty good- it just depends on which kit. I agree that their 1/35 M13/40 is a neat little kit. (So is their little Semovente) The details are crisp and the suspension is "pose-able". The tracks are the old "rubber bands"- nothing that a set of FRIULMODELISMO tracks won't fix. If you look hard enough, you might even find an old set of MODELKASTEN tracks to fit ITALERI's M13/40 and Semovente kits.

A LOT of modellers even replace the "Magic Tracks" in their DRAGON kits with FRIUL tracks- it's all up to the modeller, and how deep his/her wallet is...

If you really have to have an Italian P40 heavy tank, get the Italeri kit.
It's real nice, and you get the Metal Gun Barrel with it.
Tamiya charges more for the basic kit, and then charges about another $8 for the gun barrel.

Right you are! Refer to my previous post in this forum of 9/19/13, for some of TAMIYA's latest shenanigans...

What is this? Tamiya-bashing! They certainly deserve it.
