Hi. Was just over to the Constructive Comments section of Missing Lynx and saw an incredible diorama of a very small part of the the initital D-Day landing. Most incredible use of water and 'blood' I've ever seen. Not only is the model-building top-notch, but I do beleive the builder has pretty well captured the gory reality of this particular battle and what was seen by the men coming ashore.
Takes a while to download, but it's worth the wait.
Take care, sgirty

Wow -- someone's been watching Saving Private Ryan!
I just wish he had included an overall shot of the entire diorama. I've always dreamt of doing something like this, but just don't have the guts, time or space. The Ranger assualt on Point du Hoc has always fascinated me. Maybe someday ...

Great piece of work, like Hollowpoint, I would have liked to have seen an overall photo, but it's well worth the time to take a peek.
Makes me feel bad for doing one figure vignettes....

This indeed is a great diorama. I really like the execution. All the figures seem to have a purpose and are in all the right places. Often in a diorama of this magnitude you will see a figure or two that don't really fit the overall feel. Not in this one. The only two things I can see that I wish the builder had done are:
1) Cleaned up all the seams. There are a couple of figures with clearly visible seams running down the sides of their legs and/or arms.
2) Added bullets hitting the water (little splashes). I think that would've added that extra bit of urgency to the scene.

Great job really puts the death thing at your door.
Sad to see but true
I did download all the photos tho for future looking great size fills the screen better then seeing little 32x78 photos detail is lost.

I am working on a similar piece at present, and this guy gave me a LOT of ideas... for example the plastic bags covering the rifles during the water trek... Overall I think his composition, layout, and water are TOP NOTCH, and his eye for detail (scratch built chin straps are nice!) but his figures aren't as quite as impressive... seams and painting appears to vary greatly from figure to figure... some are perfect, and others look a bit "hasty". Overall, for the size of what is done, and the eye for detail, I say BRAVO... would love to see this in person to examine all the angles of perspective.

I have to agree on this...... I thought of some them as being quite awful to see.... that's quite a difference with the rest of the dio, that I think is excellent.

Both Danny and KFMagee sum up what I feel about this dio. As 90% of i tis the figures, and I see them as:
1) Badly posed, the dead figures remind me of Verlinden's latest offerings, no basic correct anatomical positioning....
2) Badly built. Too many seam lines for my taste...
3) As someone mentioned the quality of the painting is too variable, some are well-painted, others leave a lot to be desired.
In a sense, this Dio highlights just how difficult it is to do convincing dead or wounded figures. Sorry for seeming negative, but the dio does nothing for me.....Jim
