Hi guys,
Sorry for the late reply.
Thanks for all your comments.
Fabio, thanks for the tip, I will work on the tracks.
Sabot, I've made the shovel of some alufoil and Evergreen rod. I'm glad you like it.
Yes Steve, the PE as shown on the picture is included with the RPM base kit. It's really nice. The Lier Convention was fun! Lots of models of very high level in the (international) contest, much merchandise, a nice and educative demonstration of several techniques done by MIG himself, I've talked to old and new modelling friends, bought some nice stuff... a superb day which went by too fast. But no price for this one, and correct, because I've seen some very beautiful models which took the medals. But is was fun putting a model in the contest, and that's the most important thing. Next year I'll be visiting Lier again, it's really worth it, also MIG and those guys from the Italian Model Time were impressed about the Convention....
Hi Charlie, I only use Tamiya acrylics for airbrushing, so here is what I’ve did:
I've started with a base (primer) of 50/50 Flat Green and Olive Green,
Then a mix of 40/40/20 Flat Green, Olive Green and Dark Yellow,
Then added some 20% to the previous mix to paint the central of the panels,
Then added some 10% to the mix just to give some blotches as a first discolouring of the vehicle.
A little dusting of the lower hull and upwards was done using Buff and Earth.
I allways add some 50% Clear Gloss to the paint to create a smooth (not shiny) surface for the following filters and washes, for which I’ve used Humbrol enamel paints. Because we use acrylics for the basecolour, it won’t be affected by the following weathering, using Humbrol thinner and paints. After the filters and local washes I took several Humbrol green colours to add the green spots, using drybrush techniques. Small spots and scrapes were made with Vallejo. I’ve used only very, very little MIG pigments in the seems and corners on the fenders. The lower hull and shovel were also done with MIG pigments. The numbers on the turret were handpainted with Vallejo. And that’s it.
Thanks again for your comments and I hope that I've inspired some of you to grab and build this kit, it's worth every penny and it's fun,
Greetings,
Hugo
